My vet gave them to my 140 lb dog for pain in his joints. But it is a white elongated pill with a P on the left half and 100 on the right. He is supposed to take 1-1/2 every 12 hours as needed for pain. The vet has to check his liver every few months to be sure it isn’t causing any liver problems.

I'm not sure but I think it may be carprofen (also known as Rimadyl). It is a NSAID commonly prescribed for veterinary use.

Can you please verify how you came to the conclusion that it's prednisone?
I located an oval orange/peach-ish colored pill marked P100 with an NDC: 26637-253, that also came back as Carprofen.
Pill Size: 19mm
Packager: Putney, Inc.
NIH.gov describes this medication as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug for oral use in dogs only.

I am under the shared impression that this is indeed Carprofen and not prednisone.

It is Carprofen. We have the same pills for our dog from Costco. It’s generic Rimadyl.

You are correct. I have three senior dogs on it. The 100 means 100 mg for the dosage.
