Hi, I'm a 31 y/o male and in March of 2014 I began to think that I had cancer. Specifically a brain tumor. Well after a couple of trips to the ER I was recommended to a psych dr. My dr said that due to my father and sister having anxiety problems I probably have general anxiety disorder. I was prescribed 20mg of Paxil and 1mg of Ativan to help with first couple weeks while my body gets adjusted to the Paxil. The Paxil worked wonderful, in fact it worked so well I decided to get off the drug cold turkey while my wife and I tried to have a baby. My wife is going after being off it for 4/5 weeks I began to have terrible anxiety again. I began to project the worse possible scenarios. I did not want to harm myself or anyone else but I was afraid that it could turn into that. You read all...

I just started taking Paxil two days ago. As of this moment I feel sick and depressed. I started taking Paxil after two weeks of Effexor made my symptoms much worse. I feel like I'm hanging onto my sanity by a thread. All these brief ups and and never ending downs are just too much to deal with on a daily basis. Please Paxil work your magic!! ## Hello, Ed! How are you? Unfortunately, many antidepressants can cause a temporary worsening of symptoms for a few weeks, before things change and your symptoms start to improve. I take one for PMS/perimenopausal irritability and overtime we adjust the dosage, I just tend to expect it for about 3 weeks, before I see an improvement. The FDA lists Paxil as being an SSRI antidepressant and its typical side effects are listed as possibly includin...

I have suffered panic anxiety my whole life the last year I thought I could control it with just the lorazapam. But not. So I am back trying to get through the side effects It been its been 5 days and I am on about 2mgs a day I am very sensitive as long as I keep lorazapam on board the side effects are not so bad. But if I get the least bit anxious as the lorazapam weres off i will sometimes get this burning feeling all through my body and if freaks me out wonder the WTH now but it does pass just annoying and tiring trying to control that panic all the time just want to know if this is normal. Oh and one other side effect if my skin becomes very sensitive and welts up ## Hello, Mickey! How are you? Anytime that you stop a medication and restart it, after a long period of time, start a n...

I have been on VIIBRYID for two months and no help. Was on paxil over ten years but was on 60 mg for two years before switching. Reason for switching was due to post postpartum depression after my third child. I want to go back on paxil because it works for me but I would like some feedback on stopping and starting. I was tapered on paxil while tapering on to VIIBRYID but would there be a problem if I took 60 mg of paxil and just stop the 40 mg of VIIBRYID?? I have a Dr appointment tomorrow but just want others opinions.

I started out on a VERY low dose of Paxil 1.5mg for 7 days and today is day 9 and have been on 2.25mg for 2 days. I am finding I could sleep all day and can't function- anyone else experience this and will it slowly taper off???? ## Hello, MK! How are you feeling? Yes, that is listed by the FDA as a possible side effect of SSRI antidepressants. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. It should taper off, but not until you are on one steady dose for awhile, so your body can get used to it. As long as you are gradually titrating up, you'll likely continue to experience this. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Unfortunately when I gradually got up to 10 mg I had bad side effects of a burning sensation through my whole body, sweats ...

I just got out of Dover Behavior health for a nervous meltdown I was prescribed Paxil & xanax what scares me is the other medications I'm on which are percocet 10mg no Tylenol & oxycontin 40mg. I went today to pain management and they had received my record's for Dover. I told my Dr my fears and she said that my fears were just my anxiety and I had no need for worrying. I just think that's a lot of medications. am I just over reacting or are my fears valid? I need somebody to tell me what they think. {edited for privacy} ## Hello, Susan! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the hospitalization. However, your doctor is correct, as long as they aren't causing you any bad symptoms, then there is no reason to worry. Many people take far more medications in a d...

Hey all for a few different stupid reasons that were my own fault I missed several Paxil 10mg doses a couple of weeks ago and started feeling the effects last week. I since then have been taking my 10mg once a day at night like always and I do definitely feel better than at first but still very anxious especially when I first wake up. I have Xanax to take to help me get through this period until I fewl 100% again. Not really sure why I'm posting maybe just for some reassurance I'll be myself soon enough. This happened twice before a couple years ago. The thing is that just like last time I am thinking "well i missed it a while ago so now I'm panicking that im not feeling 100% yet so maybe it's not working anymore". I try to reassure myself that the only times in ...

So I was taking 30mg and over the past few months since June I believe I went from 30mg to 2.5mg because I didn't being tired and basicly feeling like a zombie. But now I'm at 2.5mg its like I'm taking nothing my anxiety it sky high again and my OCD is going to drive me insane. My Dr made me go from 10- 20 then 20 to 30. So can I go from 2.5 to 10mg. I think 10 would help me a lot. Then in a month I go back to 20 if 10 don't help. So is this safe.

I used to date a girl who started taking Redotex after stopping for a while. 2 weeks after that she wanted to combine it with Paxil, which is an antidepressant. On top of that she was already taking pills for thyroid problems. She used to say that if she didn't take the thyroid pills she would feel very tired. She would burst in tears out of nothing due to a side effect of Paxil. I'm still worried about her and I suggested her to excercise, however she refused. She would also get anxiety attacks. My question is: what behavior should we expect from someone who has been doing this for years? How is she going to be affected in a long term usage? What other side effects should we expect from the combination of Redotex, Paxil and thyroid pills? Thanks for your help.

I'm switching from zoloft to paxil. I was feeling very bad on zoloft. I'm still on zoloft as my psychiatrist is tapering me off of it by having me cut from 100 to 50 mg for 14 days and then that's it. I've been on the paxil for three days. How long will it take for the paxil to start overcoming the bad side effects and withdrawal of zoloft? ## Hello, Keithman! How are you? About 2 to 3 weeks and perhaps a month, before it reaches its full efficacy level in your body. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, weight changes and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Its probably too late but it has become more apparent that Paxil can be problematic for alot. Includimg myself. I have been on it for 2 months and I started on 20mg and after a week I was to u...

I take both of these meds on a regular basis and have for over 3 years. I am moving to Pensacola Florida, I am worried about finding a Dr. Who will write these meds for me. I also take 100 mg of trazadone at bed time . It works great after about an hour and a half of being very irritable, restless and shaky. My Dr does not seem too concerned about this side effect. My question is does anyone know of a good Dr in Pensacola that would write these scripts considering my medical history. And does anyone relate to the side effects of trazadone. Thanks for any response.

I was on Paxil and gained 60 lbs in 6 months. I took it as a migraine preventative and it worked wonders but I was always a normal weight and then suddenly I was FAT! After a few years, I could not stand it and switched to Cymbalta but I stayed fat. I do not know what to do. I changed my diet to no junk food at all and it does not seem to matter. I have tried to get off of it but when I taper off, I have terrible heart palpitations. Help! ## Hello, Mica! How are you? Most antidepressants do cause weight gain in most people that take them. You might want to try asking your doctor about trying Prozac/Fluoxetine. It is also an SSRI, just like the Paxil, but it isn't known to cause weight gain, as a matter of fact, in some people it may cause weight loss. Other side effects may include ...

I have been on paxil over 6 weeks now up to 60 Mgs whAt is the longest this can take to start working or does it mean if its bit working by now it just won't work for me please respond ## Hello, Theresa! How are you doing? 6 weeks is the maximum time it takes to reach it's full efficacy level in the body, in many people it reaches that level in as little as 4 weeks. Learn more Paxil details here. But how long have you been at this dosage? You really need to be at one dosage for that period of time, in order to see if it's going to help you, because every time you raise the dosage you cause more side effects to occur, which can make it seem like it isn't working. ## Don't always listen to what the "supposed" tested length is told to you as this will be quite d...

i'e been on Paxil (20 mg)for about 2 years to calm menopausal hot flushes. It's worked like a charm, and given me wonderful sleeps. However, after an emotional trauma, I had one sleepless night, and suddenly, all the symptoms of Paxil withdrawal have appeared. I feel thirsty all the time and my head feels like I'm having mild electric shocks, together with dizziness and nausea. I tried to explain this to a pharmacist, here in Mexico, where I'm on holiday. She didn't know what I was talking about. Any feedback on his would be appreciated. ## Hello, Rachelle! How are you doing? Are you feeling any better? That is very odd. Insomnia can cause those types of issues, but they certainly shouldn't be ongoing. Will you be back in the states soon to consult your doctor ab...

I have tried many meds on paxil three weeks just went from 20 to 30 today no improvement in my OCD anxiety depression and PTSD has it worked for anyone if do how long did it take please help ## I have now been on paxil over four weeks three weeks At 20 and over one on thirty no improvement at all I Am terrified nothing will work did anyone have this happen ## Hi Theresa, Based on my research, it can take 4-6 weeks for Paxil to take effect. Keep in mind that medication effects everyone differently, so no matter what kind of experience someone else has (positive or negative) that cannot determine what effect it will have on you. If you don't notice a change after a couple weeks, you may need to consider trying a different medication or other methods of treatment. I actually took Paxil...

I have been on it over 5 weeks and now just went up to 60 cause it still hasn't started to work did anyone have to go this high before it worked ## Hello, Theresa! How are you? You do need to stay on one dose for 4 to 6 weeks, before you'll know if it's working for you, or not. It takes that long for them to reach their full efficacy in the body. Learn more Paxil details here. What type of doctor are you seeing, a PCP or a specialist? ## A psychiatrist do u need to wait 4 to 6 weeks after each dose increase please respond

Please let me know I have been on it over three weeks no improvement just went up to 30 Mgs I have OCD panic depression anxiety and ptsd ## Hi, Theresa! How are you doing? It does take about 4 to 6 weeks for these medications to reach their full effectiveness in your body, to see whether or not it is going to help you. Usually, this is about the same time that you'll notice any side effects hit their peak and start to taper off. When you reach that point, if it still isn't helping, at all, then it may not be the right medication for you and you should speak to your doctor about trying something else. Learn more Paxil details here. ## Iam still the same no improvement I was on 20 Mgs for 3 weeks now 30 for one week seraquel was added last week started on 25 now up to 75 except fo...

It has this on one side: M P3 It's small (about half the size of my pinky nail), white, and in the shape a flattened sphere. ## the pill you are reffuring to is Paxil. it is an anti deppresant, social axiety drug. perscribed for axiety and OCD, dosnt have much effect if not taken on a regular basis. it just keeps your seretonin levels good so you dont hate yourself.. my friend also had sone and i looked it up online, i also took one and dont feel anything from it. hope that answers your question ## Hello, I've actually identified this pill as Paroxetine HCL extended release (12.5 mg); which is an extended release generic version of the brand name medication Paxil (as Mr.541 suggested). I found a number of pills that I need to identify, all are made in Canada. This one is a blue oval/oblong pill, imprinted with only a 30 on one side and nothing on the other side. Any ideas? Thank you in advance! ## Hello, The closest match I can find is Paxil 30 mg; which is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder (also known as social phobia), premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is a blue oval pill with the imprint Paxil on one side and 30 on the other. I hope this helps! ## Maybe it's a generic copy of Paxil, since it's blank on one side? Thanks for the help tho!
