Pain Meds And The Government

Updated

Has anyone with severe chronic pain been told by their pain management doctor's that they and everyone else has to come below 90 mg of ms contin a day because of the DEA? Well, my doctor is. In the past 4 month's, he's taken me down from a comfortable level to now in half until he gets me to 30 mg x3 a day. I've read a lot of these post's, yet I've not read anywhere about the government getting involved. Are we the only one's? Also, I've been to the best of the best doctor's, and they've all said there's nothing they can do for me. My spine is shot. A pain pump was recommended, but the risks outweighed the benefits, according to Stanford Pain Management. So, what am I supposed to to with this? Any help would be a great kindness.

Hello, Taraina! How are you doing? I am sorry that you're in so much pain.

To put it more specifically, the DEA has directed healthcare providers to keep everyone at no more than the equivalent of 120mgs of Morphine a day, and some states have lowered it even further to no more than the equivalent of 100mgs of Morphine a day, with the only exceptions being for those that suffer a possibly fatal condition, such as stage 4 cancer.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I know that doesn't help you, I am just letting you know how things currently stand and why your doctor is doing this. It is a sad state of affairs and is leaving a lot of people miserable all over the U.S.

Is there anything else I can help with?

See the 03 May (NOT 30 May) 2016 issue of "The British Medical Journal" entitled "Medical Error--the Third Leading Cause of Death in The US". The whoopie-pooh justification for the CDC & DEA issuing the "CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain--United States, 2016" in the "CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report" dated March 15, 2016 is the EPIDEMIC of "OVER 17,000 opioid (Rx & street drugs) overdose deaths in 2015. Yet, there has been NO mention of what the British Med. Journal article describes as the over 400,000 deaths in the same year, I believe, due to medical screw-ups in the media! 30 times the number of overdose deaths due to screw-ups or "OOPSIES" by so-called medical "professionals"!!! Talk about PC "spin-control"! Smells to me like five-day old 'fresh' fish. STINKS. P.S. Both of the article/report mentioned are available online.

Re: Verwon (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Sounds like you are a little up to speed. What is stopping all of the people affected by this from getting together or alone doesn't matter to get an attorney and sue the FDA, the DEA, also the CDC for starting all of this? Point to make is, this medicine was approved by the FDA. They should have properly prepared for all of this. They put it out on the market and through all of this, we have developed a tolerance and dependence, through which we have been put through hell. We've been treated unfairly and made to feel like dopeheads, like we are liars and drug dealers. The truth is, the citizens who pay taxes, with a clean background and legitimate issues should have the right to choose whether they are willing to risk the possible consequences of the medication. Alcohol is legal although it has killed by far more people than opiate pain meds and is responsible for all alcoholics. Tobacco which is responsible for mouth cancer, throat cancer, lung cancer, heart disease, the list goes on. Also, there are a vast number of medications that "may increase the risk of stroke or even death" all of which are sold abroad and limitless. I can't understand how these agencies and administrations can even start to do this. Also, their alternatives are just as dangerous and habit-forming as the real thing. The government needs to be taken out of these decisions for the fact that life is life. If I have to rely on these medications, even though it may shorten my life, at least I will better enjoy the quality of whatever time I remain on this earth. WE MUST STOP THIS AUTOCRATIC ruling by this DICTATORSHIP of CAPITALISTS.
