Did either of you end up calling your doctor to confirm that you were out of town and needed to reschedule the appointment to a later date? That's probably what I would suggest doing up front, since it wouldn't necessarily affect the outcome of your pill count. As long as you are taking them according to the doctor's instructions, there will be the appropriate amount of pills left in the container on any given date that you go in for an appointment.

I hope this helps!

I never heard of Dr counting your pills! That is crazy! Why would they do that!

@Debbie,

I don't necessarily agree with it either. I feel that pill counting is an unjust and unnecessary thing for doctors to be doing in many cases… My view is that most legitimate patients probably have common sense enough to know how to read the Rx label & monitor their own intake without supervision or having to "check in" for a pill count before their prescription is even finished.

Makes me wonder if doctors just do pill counts based on suspicion of drug abuse or if there's something more to their motives, like getting your copay for a second time in a row this month..? Lol You never know!

Re: CTB (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

You being out of town will sound very fishy to the doctor. You will probably be cut off and go into withdrawals and the doctor will not give one eff.

Re: Debbie (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

Don't ever tell anyone the name of your doctor. I have a relative who abuses drugs terribly and is very devious. They think they're the only one who should be on pain medication. They have had numerous surgeries just to get medication. I know for a fact they called some friend's doctors and made up lies to get them cut off. Be very careful of who you let know that you take meds, there are so many crazy drug addicts out there. I suspect someone maybe called on you. This is the only reason that a doctor would want to count your pills.
