Pain Contract Help

I have a question that I need some help with. I had Kaiser for insurance and was on a pain contract with them, well i got laid off from my job so lost my insurance. Now I dont know what to do. How do I go about keeping my contract with another dr, or is my contract now void since I losr my insurance. I am so confused and am in soooo much pain,please somone help me. Thanku

Tell your Doctor, let him know about your insurance. If you are on strong pain meds you cant just stop taking them. If its a real problem and you are a real pain patient they cant shut you off. Also check with the company that makes the meds and ask about a government program to keep you on the meds. Most companies wont just shut you off. You must be pro active and get moving now. I know how you feel; 10 low back operations

Actually, they are not obligated to treat anyone and they can just discontinue prescribing medications, at any time they wish. They are free to do so, as long as someone is not in life threatening danger.

And as to the pain contract, I did respond to your question in another post.

You should read the details of the contract to be certain, however, it should only be enforceable while you were still covered by their insurance. If you no longer have their coverage, you should be free to pursue treatment, as necessary.
