Prednisone (10 mg) is a synthetic corticosteroid drug that is particularly effective as an immunosuppressant, and affects virtually all of the immune system. It is used to treat certain inflammatory diseases and (at higher doses) cancers, but has significant adverse effects.

I have been on predisone alot for asthma issues. I was told by a Doctor to take 100 milligrams for either 3 days or 5 days and then quit along with bactrim for a ear infection and breathing problems. My question is I was alway told when on predisone you had to taper them down. The Doctor said when your on predisone for a short period you can do this. Just wondering what is right
