P.t.s.d., Shingles, M.s. Pain Issue

Updated

Been treated for the PTSD since 1996, many different meds and therapy, M.S. since 1998, have done the big 3 meds, copaxone, rebif, avonex, on none now, back surgery in 2000 from car wreck, I have a G.P. a pain doc, and a shrink. I got shingles on 2/28. I am on 150mgs Wellbruton, Fentayl 50mg. patch, 1600 mgs. neurotin, 15mgs methodone. Did the valtrex, steroids. Tryed Lyrica, swelling of ankles, super depression. Today G.P. gave me a script for Amitriptyline. I was on Elavil at one point, did no good for depression, does anyone think that this will help with the nerve pain from the shingles. I feel these guys are using me for a test subject. Should the G.P. be giving me mood elevators when I have a shrink that I see weekly? The only thing that seems to be helping is the methadone, that only takes the edge off. Anyone help?

I was on Lyrica for about 3 weeks up to 3 50 mg pills a day. I have damaged nerves in my sacrum which causes really bad rectal pain. It helped take the edge off the nerve pain but I started developing severe muscle pain. Now I'm trying to see if I can go down to 1 pill a day if the muscle pain will go away. 1 pill still gives me relief during the afternoon at the worst part of my work day. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is the third time I have tried to post a reply. I keep hitting the wrong button. I have had M.S. since I was 18, now 60. I have used Salmon oil, 6000mg daily, and Vitamin D, Bvit, sublingual. I am currently taking a slow release morphine that seems to be helping. I am going to try something else this week. I will be taking 5HTP 30 minutes before bedtime at night, drinking a small glass of grape juice 30 minutes before taking the 5HTP. I am also adding 500 mg of Magnesium. This is supposed to help you sleep through the night as it enables your body to manufacture serotonin. I hope that this works. I have been pretty successful with what I have done nutritionally thus far, so I am looking forward to a reduction in pain with the increase in serotonin. Low serotonin seems to be the culprit in the elevated pain syndrome. Hope this helps you if you try it. It has worked for me. Fran
