I read everyone's comment on how Oxycontin has changed . I am more concerned with not being able to afford my meds. For the first 3 months of the year I have to come up with $4700.00 because I have to pay regular price for my oxycontin 80's. How do you all afford the brand name? I want the generics back. They worked fine for me. I been on 80 mlgs. for over 10 years. I am taking a pretty high dose now, says the doctors. But I used to be taking double the amount. But had to change doctors and he cut my dose in half. I am in Severe Pain every day of my life. I nearly died from the back surgury I had last year. My lungs won't take another surgery. I have had cancer twice. and 2 back surgeries. It is horrible, Then to have money issues too. I can't get help with insurance from purdue, because you can't be on medicare to be eligible for it. They consider medicare insurance. AND ....no help from anyone else cause they say I make too much money. But the cost of my meds is more than I get. I'm disabled and on social security. And I get a small retirement check. I don't know how everyone pays for brand name oxycontine????? I'm broke! Waiting for generics to come back!

Good post to both you and Micheal. I am a disabled vet and yes I too relate to the issues you mentioned. I also agree that even thought not as effective the difference between the OC and OP isnt nearly as bad as most of these posts make it sound when your using the medication for real pain issues instead of recreational use. It's kind of like the medical marijuana issue, I'm sure that marijuana offers a multitude of benifits to the medical community, but again its the recreational users that keeps its benifits from moving forward depriving those that could benifit from its many uses

I hear u I don't miss coming up with that huge money, that was such bulls***,so wrong,we have insurance and still get screwed,so tired of it,I'm on oxycodone 14 a day, 30mg and methadone 150 mg a. Day,so I don't have to pay that big money anymore,I'm so sick of pain ,pills, pain.they took OxyContin away when the druggies just went to dope, that don't help me none, they never should of taken away ,it so radiculous ,druggies are going to get no matter what,so why screw with people in Pain,Op suck make me sick, upset my stomach ,just more bulls*** to add to my plate, nothing new.

I JUST CHECKED ON THE INTERNET AND WITH MY PHARMACY... OXYCONTIN'S ARE NOT BEING PRODUCED BY APOTEX. PEOPLE REALLY NEED TO GET THERE INFORMATION CORRECT BEFORE POSTING ON THESE FORUM'S.

I totally agree with you annoy our U.S military veterans getting no respect from anyone both social, internet, and through our government. You men and women fought/fight to protect your families, loved ones, and us regular †Joe Shmoe†civilians. I understand your situation with PDSD, my uncle just recently retired/returned from Iraq and has to live everyday in excruciating pain. While over seas he was blown up twice in his humvee's by planted road side bombs. He has been prescribed Oxycontin and was fine on his pain regiment that he received from the OC brand. But as soon as they switched over to the OP brand he had to start taking double the milligram amounts because they were not even 25% as effective as the OCs.
As for the person who said the comment about addicts being illiterate. That was a very ignorant, rude comment. I personally am an addict in recovery who had attended my MMT program daily and I am far from being basically what you call/are saying an illiterate moron, who gave up education to follow a path of addiction. You know sometimes its not always that way. Everyone has their own story on how they have become addicted to which ever vice/drug they choose, and most people that become addicted to heavy drugs/pain meds are due to doctors who are happier to hand out pain meds instead of taking the time to figure out a pain management system with does not involve heavy opiates or narcotics. Its people that think like you that are the ones who drive us ex addicts/addicts crazy. Your comment was completely uncalled for. No person who is in an addicted situation/status deserves anyone like that to speak to them. Addiction is a disease, a very harsh one at that. So next time you decided to voice a rude comment liked that, you may want to rethink what you feel like saying/typing. No where in this blog does it say anything about having discriminating, ignorant, arrogant.comments in it. This was created for people to try and find out what the deal with this medication is. So peace out boy/girl scout! Go screw off!

As got the mother looking to try and help her son. As the doctor to put name brand necessary on the script. I've heard that that possibly may be able to get a person OC brand that way there not having to take 3 times their normal dosage just to maintain a regular effect. Best Wishes . If that doesn't work, speak with the doctor prescribing the medication about maybe using methadone or morphine as relief.

Plus all the people that were prescribed and/or addicted to Oxycontin, suffering because the pain wont go away. Now the patients with the prescriptions i know are out doing heroin or other opioid drugs because the pain is not subsiding because the ops aren't strong enough.

Most people can afford name brand because they sell some to cover expenses. Wrong, but lots of the time true. As an x addict, I can recall taking many elderly to the pharmacy to buy there script, then get at least half of them.

The effect wears off quicker, but I would recommend 30mg oxycodone. Very little side effects with effective pain relief. And if your doc had you on oxycontin, he should have no issue giving you oxycodone.

Chris, (or if anyone else can give me an honest answer) can you tell me if you have to take more pills daily now? As an example if you took OC 60 twice a day, how many of the oxycodone of that dose (60) would you need? Or are they not dosed the same? For the record, I'm a legitimate pain patient and have always had to pay for my prescription. It's just that, since last year, my out of pocket cost went through the roof. I have no insurance, and am in the catch 22 of being just a little over the income line to get access to benefits, or any kind of help with medication prices.
Thanks, in advance.
