Oxycodone Now Adding Buprenorphine Patches

I've been taking 45-60mg of oxycodone daily for quite awhile now. My doctor would like me to cut down to 45mg (3 x 15mg) more often and add 10mcg/hour buprenorphine patches and only take 60mg (4 x 15mg) as needed. I've read that buprenorphine patches may cut down the analgesic effect of the oxycodone, have others experienced this? It worries me that my oxycodone may no longer help me reduce my pain.

Yes, Buprenorphine can sometimes do that, because it tends to cling much more strongly to the opiate receptors than other opiates.

However, it is also an analgesic, so you may not need the Oxycodone, once you start it.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I must say after day 1, where I had some mild withdrawal symptoms buprenorphine patches have helped me a great deal. I don't wake up in as much pain. Also there are times where I can skip oxycodone doses, where as before I had to take it bad pain or not just to keep the withdrawals at bay.
