Fentanyl withdrawal will be a lot more intense you should prepare yourself as best you can with magnesium vitamin D & Calcium supplements & no matter how bad you feel like you can’t EAT pain medication drain nutrients out of us like crazy which makes withdrawal worst & if you keep your vitamin & mineral intake up while you’re on the Medication itself it will work a lot better my recommendation to anyone is to eat before EVERY dosage you don’t want your brain’s reward system to prefer oxy or fent over food it’s the beginning of going downhill physically

You might be going through cross tolerance both are opioids and you brain sometimes does that is why doctoctors write for a lower coverson med like from fent to oxy is what I’m about to try I’m on 50 mcg mme =120-135 mme of oral morphine so I’m now switching from that to 20 mg oxycodone it 4x 24 equals 120 mg it’s easier for dr to not drop so drastically on the patches it’s awful

I also had problems with sweating and my patches would come off. I put them on under my bra to help hold contact but if u wash the spot where you are going to place it with alcohol and wash the patch with soap and water and pat dry the patch until u feel it stick it will stay on good as new-

I do know going on vivitrol, you must be off pain meds for 7 days before they will give you the shot.

I am on both myself. But there are days I don’t take oxycodone for breakthrew. Fhentonal is way stronger, and you shouldn’t withdrawal.

Fentenyl is hard to detox from. I got off ativan, was taking 3 1mg pills daily for 6 years. I thought I was going to die, mental craving was out of my mind. The physical, ETEREME RESTLESS LEGS, cramping was terrible, lots of lower back pain. It all lasted about 3 weeks, with the worst lasting about 4 to 5 days.
I am soooo thankful that is behind me. The last 10 days I have gone CT off 25mg fentalyn patch, been using it for about 18 months. It has been hard, night sweats shakes, depression, feeling of hopeless, helpless, so glad
Thankful I am beginning to feel better, thinking is much clearer, I have cleaned kitchen, done laundry, everything going seems better in a clean house.
I still an addiction of about 100 to 120 MG of oxycodone to get off of. I am going to let myself level out and rest a while before taking on the oxy. I am planning on cutting back very slowly, maybe from 120 MG to 110mg, them on down slowly. Does anyone have any ideas? I hesitate to go with suboxone, I am afraid that is one more I will have to get off of, does anyone have ideas on this??
My heart goes out to everyone that is in bondage to pain meds, ativan, or pain patches.I was just sure there was an easy, painless way to wd,but there is not. I am pretty sure there are easier ways than CT but I am tired of having to be worried if Dr. Is going great to change his mind from month to the next and not renew subscription. I am just tired of being additional Ted.
I have been told I will always have to have pain meds I am going to try to go back till tramadol when this is all over.
Thanks for listening to me, I would appreciate very much.

I have been taking oxycodone a t 100mg every 24 hrs, also 25 fental patch, and 3 1mg ativan daily. I have gotten off ativan, am on day 9 from patch. Not feeling good at all, how long will this last? After pain patch I will begin working on getting off oxy.

Fentanyl is waaay harder to w/d from. Had to do IP rehab for 23 days for two 100mcg patches every 48 hrs. If u want to go off something get off oxy.

The shot works wonders. I took opiates for eight years. Took the shot on dec 9th, 2016. I highly recommend it to everyone with opiate addictions. You don't even think about using. It works wonders on the brain. Good luck to all of u and God bless u all...

I was on 50 mg. Fentanyl patches for about 3 years. I was recently weaned off by my doctor who gave me 2 mg.dilaudid 2x daily for BT pain. I had no withdrawal symptoms what so ever however I've gained 25 pounds in 4 months which is very concerning to me.

First - are you under doctors care? Do you trust them? If both are true, do not worry. Things will go well.

I have been down the patch ladder 12, 25, 50, 75 mcg/hr every year (almost) for at least 20. I have to change my dose with the seasons. Very cold were I live in the winter. You can do it, no problem.

STAY away from benzo's of all types. Have your Dr. put that in your case file. No benzo's, sleep drugs, or, Gods forbid, methadone (mine calls it "The Devil's Milk" - no kidding, colorful guy).

The patch was designed to smooth out the spike the Fentynal has. Gives it a long half life. That means, withdrawal is nearly equally smooth. Don't worry.

At worst (75 to zero mcg/hr in my case) it was three days. I had to stay active at noon - outside. Forget the weather, just get under the noon day sun. All will be well.

Stay in touch. Very important. I may be a ****n, but others here are not.

Mark it is neither right or wrong. Sounds like you did not get the support you needed. Good luck on the highway of pain!

Ron, Thank you for the reply.

I am glad you have had good experiences where I have not. No two people, places or problems are the same. I got mixed up in a group that held a sincere belief that doctors were the problem and no part of the solution. They used the AA book to find support for the notion that we as Humans are helpless pathetic creatures whose only salvation was in divine intervention and that only the suffering of cold turkey withdrawal could repent our sins.

It was a bad choice on my part. Needless to say, it caused great suffering and did not work.

By chance, while complaining to all that would hear me, I found a doctor who did help. He did a nerve conduction study and found massive nerve damage in both arms and a collapsed spine at c3-5 resulting from an airplane crash years earlier (yup, some people survive even those).

12 surgeries latter I could function but only on the patches, gabapentin and oral pain drugs. The 12 steppers convinced me I was simply a fool and by joining with them I would be cured.

I am happy to hear that there are programs that help. That does not change my view that I see indications of multi drug addiction in this forum. That is a sever medical emergency and no AA style program can handle the biological meltdown of a cold turkey treatment.

That was the point I was trying to make. If you, in the darkest nights, even think you may suffer from multi drug addiction, get medical help on an emergency basis.

Anyway ... thanks for taking the time to read my opinion - right or wrong.

With regard to the 12 Steppers as you say in your post, no where does it say in the literature about cold turkey but encourages us to use outside professional help. I've been on pain management - fentanyl patch and oxycodone for 18 years and clean and sober for 33 years. As long as you follow doctors directions you will be fine in the 12 step program. If you abuse it, then that is another story.

I am constantly surprised by the fentanyl horror stories. If we are talking about the transdermal version, I have run up and down the 12, 25, 50, 75 mcg ladder a dozen times in as many years.

IV, the stuff that killed Prince, is not even indicated for nonhospital use, so I am clueless.

I wonder from reading these posts if these stories relate to multidrug addictions. Especially benzodiazepines mixed with oral pain drugs. That is the living dead scenario.

I have had zero trouble following doctors orders and changing doses. To quote him "cold turkey is a religious concept pushed by 12 step groups, follow medical protocol."

When I stopped paying attention to the 12 steppers, I was fine.

Hi Judy, it depends on the amount of both but just keep in mind that Fentanyl is 1,000 times stronger in weight per weight molecules than heroin and most definitely stronger than oxycodone. I have been on both for Pain Management and eventually I was having to have my Dr. RX a patch every 48hts as my body got used to it and I started metabolizing the Fentanyl extremely fast. I would rather go without Oxycodone any day than kick the patches again. I was on the 100mcg/HR which is the highest amount. Another thing is that depending on which Generic Brand you are able to get (they phased out the gel reservoir ones by Acatvis) and now only have Polymer Matrix systems, but just understand there can be a difference of 2.0 entire mg.s within each patch, which is a lot depending on which generic you have in your area. At least in my book Oxy is best. Fentanyl does work better for acute pain.

This is from personal experience tho others may feel different. I used to be on 40 mg x 3 per day oxycodone for quite some time, around 7 years. Any doctor will tell you that this pills burn your stomach and should not take them this long. Anyhow, to back to the original subject, Withdrawals were horrible and lasted 7-10 days when I just stopped taking them.

Recently I was switched to fentanyl patches, 50mcg to wear for 72 hours and one 10mg/IR OXY. Having gone through Withdrawals on both, patches were super intense for 3 days but started getting a lot better after that. In my opinion id much rather deal with WD from patches then pills any day.

WD Preparation KIT

here's a list of things that are proven to help and trust me, makes a world of a difference

1) Vitman B6
2) spectrum Vitman for men
3) gravol
4) benadryl
5) immodium (contains opiates)
6) natural pills for stress (helps RLS)
7) TONNES OF WATER (this is key)
8) TONNES OF GATORADE (this is key)
9) Tylenol
