Overlapping Pain Prescriptions. Help.

I'm having hernia repair surgery soon. I have a regular monthly prescription for 120 hydrocodone. Will pharmacy fill a new pain medication prescription after surgery even if I should technically have hydrocodone already? Desperate for answers. Thank you and God bless.

It depends on what the prescription is for, including the active ingredients and the dosage. If it is for the same medication that you are already prescribed, they most likely won't, but if the dosage is different, or the active ingredients are different, they should.

The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

Are there differences between the prescriptions?
