Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that is used to reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach to treat conditions such as heartburn, GERD, ulcers and gastritis.

It is an oral medication, meant to be taken with an 8 ounce glass of water, each day, before you eat anything.

Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, stomach pain and flatulence.

What does the " IP " stand for? I have just recently bought a bulk supply online but I have never seen them state " Omeprazole IP" before.

"IP" means Indian Pharmacopoeia . Every country has its own book of medicines where the details , composition , procedure and dosage of the drugs are mentioned . Every conuntry has their own way of making the medicines compatible for their country and environmental factors. Example ; United States have their own Pharmacopoeia which is USP like that even Britian have their own Pharmacopoeia i.e BSP or BP . IP is a book of standards of making drugs/medicines in India .

I have had this flatulence problem now for quite a while that's very embarrassing. Would it be a problem if I took two doses of Omeprazole a day along with Mebeverine?
