Hi angie....im not sure where at in cleve u can get it filled but i do kno 2 things and a few places that might b willing to help or get them ordered if they dont have them in stock already.first of all u dont have to have it written like beardog has posted.if it is written for opana er 40 mg that is totally fine as long as the dr.didnt check the box on the script that says daw or dispense as written or brand only.that would b like them tellin u that u must get vicodin not hydrocodone or percocet and not oxycodone generic is generic.and 2nd u should b able to go to giant eagle or cvs or walgreens and ask them to order it.it will take a few days but it is worth the wait but i go to a small mom and pop place that orders it every month for me so u might have better luck goin to a small place but if u want the name of that place i go to shoot me a txt and ill help u get that filled just read the forum a couple weeks ago and put them times together for my number.i hope this will b of some help to u.good luck angie and i hope u feel better...i kno i do with these generic ones...

Hi I sympathize with your problem and am wondering this same thing I am in va and have researched this till I am blue in the face and I tried to call 2 how do they not know where there product goes so am I right in saying that to get the generic you have to have a script for oxymorphone er right and global pharmacy makes it I have asked all pharmacies here in va they say to there is no generic but yet I keep reading articles that there is and my rec pharmacy says simply they don't carry it can't get it I agree to this new form sucks my life was worth living again when I started taking opana only to now be miserable with what they have done to this medicine I cannot walk am wheel chair bound with a crippling hereditary disease and do not abuse drugs I need them to simply get through a day and yet people who need them are dealing with this while others have help who do not need them with there methadone clinics and so forth and then it's okay as long as the gov is pushing the drug but where is our help our perfection I did not ask to be like this I wish I could find a good attorney with some balls to go all the way to the top to fight for our rights and what there doing to us if there is any who read this contact me if your up to the fight of your life and to all you dea fda or who ever else against us having the right to quality of life through pain meds to gain some quality of life I would not want anyone to go through this this but only then maybe you'll understand what it would feel like if your ever in the the position where you have some accident or develop a condition that delivers so much physical pain on a daily basis that you dread living through it another day and all you find find is someone who looks at you and says who cares about your chronic pain no I'm not going to help you or I don't believe in pain medicine and they deny your rights to that one little pill that could make it all better just for a little while just enough so you can enjoy your family so they can see a glimpse of a smile instead of you crying out in pain all through the night and to just enjoy the good things in life and to forget for one moment that your broken and all the things you would want to do you'll never be able to because of your defect of a body just some piece of mind anyway there going to far with this bs and these pharmacies in my area especially big name big chain like cvs rite aide Walgreen whatever happened to caring about customers now there treating like carp when they find out what your on won't even supply my meds make it he'll to get it and I've been a customer for a long Damn time everyone needs to stand up to them make them treat us better once they start loosin money I bet they will I stopped going this little shot faced pharmacist here at cvs was very rude and nasty made a smart comment about what he thought about people not needing pain medicine and asking my mother what was wrong with me why am I getting this instead of doing his job after all he's a pharmacist and filling my script so my family refuses to shop there period I wonder if the owner would care if he new that pharmacist just cost them over 8 grand a month not including the shopping my family does while waiting for it to be filled stop letting them control us let's band together and fight the fight together lol anyway enough venting any news where the generics are a anyone

My name is Joe, I live in NJ and I am disabled on SSD, I have medicare and presently take the 40 mg Opana ER, when the generic first came out my pharmacist said do you want the generic and I said most definitely, so she put it through and said sorry the insurance won't pay for generic only brand, I was floored. It has been 4 months and they only pay for brand. It isn't just me I've heard other people say the same thing. So is this a law in NJ for disabled people?

The only pharmacy I found in Cleveland, Ohio that was willing to order the generic for me was Rite-Aid try the local one in your area it's in there system a lot of the other pharmacies were saying it wasn't showing in there system

Joe, I am also on SSD. I just found out about the new generic Opana ER. What insurance company do you have? That is ridiculous they would rather pay twice the amount. I hope we don't have the same one or it's time for a change!

Well my part D prescription Drug Coverage is United American Insurance Company. My pharmacist says she can get the generic from her supplyer but the Insurance won't pay. When I called the Insurance Company they claim there is no generic. There is a scam going on here, like I said in my first post I know other people on Opana and disabled have different insurance company's and cannot get the generic unless they pay cash. Well it might be cheaper but certainly not that cheap! I am going to call medicare next!

According to another Rep at the Insurance Company Oxymorphone ER 40mg is an alternative not generic. So you have to have the Doctor call and explain why they want to change it. Apparently it is in a higher tier, what a bunch of bullcrap. Everyone knows how the doctors like to be bothered by calling these wanker insurance company's. An alternative my butt. I read somewhere that the makers of Opana are spending billions to stop or slow down the sale of the generic, very cut throat business
these pharmaceutical company's. No concern for the patient, and the pain we have to endure everyday, all about their "god" the dollar bill!!

I get my Opana from Rite-Aid in Medina on RT42 close the the town square. They always have it in stock and Megan the Pharmacist is nice and doesn't make people like us feel like junkie's.

I have United Health Care thru AARP, and am on full disability. UHC covers the oxymorphone in all strengths. Just make sure your PM doctor writes the script as "oxymorphone 40mg ER, otherwise you will get grief from your pharmacist. I had been using Walgreens. I got to know the head Pharmacist, and she made sure that her Walgreens had them in stock every month for me. It really does help get to know your local pharmacist, and why you need the pain meds that are prescribed for you. It really makes a HUGE difference!!

I have lower back pain
My muscles in my lower back that is around my spine is sprained. I'm 38 and have had pain since I was 16 yrs old from over exercising. Going back when I was younger went to a doctor at Cleveland clinic telling me my muscles are sprained.
He told me to take midol. I take 800 mgs. Also gave me muscle relaxers. I I refuse to take them, makes me way to drowesy n bad for my heart muscles.
The pain is not all the time present, just sertain way I seat and lift up groceries it gets sore. I have experienced tingles going down my thighs where it made me from not walking, so i just lyie on the floor to help strengthen my back muscles. As i got older it has got worst. I have went to a chropatcor what made it worst. I have a primary care doctor she use to give me 800 mgs of ibuprofen and 7.5 Vicodins.
I was taking the Vicodins 3 times a day. But not every day, only when the pain was present and when I knew I was going to exercise. She has been giving them to me 2 yrs on and off. Now she told me she will not be able too. Due to her fact she is scared of losing her liscence
She explained there has been many doctors in Fla getting there liscence tooken away from giving out narcotics.
I'm not drug seeking, but I do need a doctor that will be able to give me vicodins. I still have 23 vicodins since 1 month and half. I'm saving them when the pain is present.
My question here is here "can any one"
Help me find a doctor In The Cleveland Ohio Area???
I have not went to no other doctor yet. I dont want my primary care doc to think im dr shopping, just in case, the sec dr gives them to me and then stops.
My primary care doctor is tough.
So please any one knows a easy doctor that is nice n understanding.
I'm a loyal person. Once some one can tell me a good doctor I will transfer all my paper work to the new doctor, cause I do have other health issues. I do get prescripts from my present.
Thank you so much for reading it is very long but trying to be detailed as possible. I hope some one out there has a good doctor for me and will post back about the results.

I found them!
Ha!

Generic Opana ER (oxymorphone ER) can be bought at any Costco pharmacy.

Now, my story:
I had surgery last summer to repair a herniated disc between L5-S1. Prior to that I had been having burning/stabbing pain down my right leg, from buttocks to toes. My doctor put me on 5/500 hydrocodone/APAP and 8 Weeks of physical therapy.

I did the therapy, had my meds changed to Lyrica 75mg+Oxycodone 5mg (no APAP) & the pain got worse and worse. I literally could not sit or bend without excruciating pain.

Switched doctors and was told to get an MRI. The MRI showed herniations and bulges in my upper back, and tears, herniations and bulges from L1-S1. My ENTIRE lower back was mangled.

Now, taking me seriously, I was prescribed Soma 350mg+Oxycodone 15mg+Lyrica 75mg, a TENS unit and I was given a referral to a neurosurgeon.

About a month after that I had my surgery.

Following surgery I was prescribed Percocet 5mg/325mg (oxycodone/apap)+Soma 350mg+Valium 5mg (diazepam). At first I felt way better, gradually weaned off the Percocet and started physical therapy (12 Weeks post op). Two Weeks in to PT I started getting neuropathic pain down my right leg AGAIN!

Gradually the pain got worse, and I also started having the same type of pain in my groin, and left leg. On top of that I started having frequent back spasms and a deep pain in my spine.

I was referred to a pain specialist who immediately put me on Gralise 3500mg+ Norco 10mg/350mg (hydrocodone/APAP). Gralise didn't work so he switched me to Topomax. After Topomax didn't work he started suggesting that I get a Spinal Cord Stimulator implant. Uh..... No, thank you.

I went back to my GP who decided he would take on my pain management. He started me on Opana ER 20mg BID+Opana IR 5mg PRN. That worked GREAT. For a month... then Endo reformulated Opana ER into some plastic indigestible material. Right away I went into withdrawal. I must mention that I ALWAYS take meds AS PRESCRIBED. In this case, orally, without food twice a day.

My doctor told me to stop taking the Opana ER and replace it with Opana IR 10mg as needed until I could get in to see him. At the appointment he decided to prescribe me MSContin 60mg TID+ MSIR 15mg as needed for BT. That made me sleepy so he switched my MSIR 15mg to MSContin 15mg.

That worked well enough, until it didn't, lol. Then he put me on MSContin 60mg TID+MSContin 30mg TID+MSIR 15mg PRN.

That brings us to today. The morphine is no longer working, and the side effects are becoming an issue (vomiting, constipation, dizziness) so he decided to take me off it immediately.

Since Opana ER worked amazingly well for me (no side effects or doped up feeling) & there is now a generic alternative to the plastic "pills" that Endo is pushing, we both thought it would be a good idea to switch back to oxymorphone, and reduce my dose a little bit. So he put me on Opana ER 40mg BID+Opana IR 5mg PRN (he wrote it out: oxymorphone CR and oxymorphone IR).

I them went to the pharmacy attached to a local hospital, where I waited an hour before being told that there is no such thing as a generic oxymorphone extended release. Also, that it would cost me $1000 upfront and my insurance would reimburse me. YEAH RIGHT.

So I took my script to the Safeway by my house and was told it would only cost $15 for Opana ER and $6 for Opana IR. When I asked about generic Oxymorphone ER I was told it doesn't exist. I said whatever, and told them I'd pick them up in the morning.

When I got home I called the doctor back and was told that he was absolutely positive that there is a generic Opana ER. I got on the web and found out that there is indeed a generic and 3 different companies make it.

So I called Safeway back and asked politely if the Pharmacist could check and see if a generic is available. I was told that there is no generic on the market. When I told her that my doctor said otherwise, she told me that my doctor was wrong and that I should let him know that there is no generic Opana ER on the market. When I told her that I had the manufacturer's product list in front of me, and that it listed Oxymorphone ER as available she relented and told me that their distributor must not carry it because it's not listed in their system. So I told her to just fill my script with name-brand and I'd worry about it next month.

When I got home my mom suggestes I call Costco and see if they had it. I called the Costco pharmacy by my house and at first was told they can't give that info out over the phone. I was very polite and I thanked her and asked if there was anyway she could order, and that I didn't need to know if they had it in stock or not. She eventually warmed up to me and checked their system. Low and behold, they didn't have it at the moment but if I brought my script in they would be happy too, as their manufacturer HAS IT IN STOCK. Woooohooooo!!

So next month I will be taking my script to Costco and getting a medicine that I know will make my life a little easier! No more partially digested plastic in my poop! No more projectile vomiting out of nowhere (thanks a lot morphine) & no more rock solid pebble poop, if I'm lucky (also because of morphine, lol).

Sorry for the life story, it definitely was not essential. I just wanted to share my story. And the good news, that Opana ER is generic, and Costco Wholesalers Pharmacy can order it for all of us CPP'ers!
