Nuvigil Doses (Page 2)

Updated

can anybody tell me if they are prescribed more than 250mg per day for nuvigil. I take a 250 mg tablet at 8 a.m. and feel like I need another by 2:00 in the afternoon......my day does not end until around 8:oopm --- I gotta be alert, alive and active till then.

I was taking Dexedrine for this "breakthrough" period, but that can not be had anywhere!...it's missing on the market, nobody (pharmacies) can get it anymore.

Nuvigil has been a miracle med for me, as many of my other psych meds cause extreme fatigue, pdoc prescribed this.....miraculous, not to mention helping me lift out of a two year depression....between this med (nuvigil) and Latuda---my life has finally changed....just trying to work out the kinks.

Thank you for taking the time to read....I appreciate any feedback

Hi, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, narcolepsy, sleep apnea, depression, and a couple other things several years ago. I have tried all kinds of meds. I am on welbutrin and cymbalta, lyrica, for the fibro and depression. On 18 mg. Ritalin for my adhd,on nuvigil 250mg. one a day. Also Mobic 2a day 10 mg.for arthritis, also suppose to take 4 oxycodon 10/ 325 for 4 herniated disc. In my mid back and slipped disc in lower back. I do not take pain meds very often because I have a very high tolerance for pain. I have no energy to do anything at all. I guess I am wanting to know if higher doses of meds would help? Dr. had me on 4-20mg extended relief adderall a day and still had no energy. Took several naps daily and still no energy. Any suggestion to take to my dr. would be greatly appreciated. What can I try to help me?

Hi, I just started on Nuvigil (right as it was going generic so a couple weeks ago) and before that my doc had me on straight melatonin (3MG) and that did ok! However adding the Nuvigil really kicked the melatonin and the effects of my Concerta's boosting effects up to max! It appears you aren't on melatonin and have had similar sleep issues to me (I was like Sleeping Beauty until the melatonin which I was on for 6 weeks and then the additional Nuvigil). If your doctor hasn't put you on melatonin I would ask them about it! Melatonin is usually a sleep aid (it is all natural) that is given to people at night to help induce and regulate sleep but in some (rare) cases like mine it is given in the morning to help push a person's sleep cycle later! Also, with my Nuvigil and melatonin in the morning I sit for 15-20 minutes while eating breakfast with my light box (a Sunsation brand light box which helps a bit). It is still a tiny bit of a struggle as I have just started the Nuvigil but I find the combination of 3-6MG melatonin a day (I sometimes have to adjust on my own to 6 depending on how I feel but don't recommend unless your doc says it's not an issue) and my doc says my adjustments aren't a big deal and it works fine! I am on 100MG less of Nuvigil than you. Melatonin can be gotten over the counter in the USA and I believe Canada in drug and grocery stores.

I have Multiple Sclerosis and I am on two doses of 250mg a day. I take one at 5:30am and then another at 12:30 before lunch.
But that may change since I just got a letter from my insurance saying they won't cover it starting July 1 now that there is a generic of Provigil. (I won't go into my rant of how basic meds and the slow release aren't quite the same thing) So it looks like I will be taking more freakin' pills... I'm already at 10 a day.

Hi I'm right there with you on this one. We can be hard on ourselves. I always am freaking out that I'm relapsing, which is my worst nightmare, and I know how slow and invidious addiction can be. I also realize we can trick ourselves with motives. Having said all that. I sometimes need two. I have heath issues where the medication causes fatigue, I'm on medication for bipolar 2 disorder as well as physical disability, which cause fatigue, along with both disorders. I have a neurological disease MS which causes fatigue. Don't be hard on yourself. Check your motives and to thy own self be true. If you are using it to chase a high, deep down you will know this. I remember before I got sober I abused ADHD medication. Deep down, no matter how I rationalized it,I knew my motives. Peace and ODAT

I can't tell if you got my reply. Are you in recovery? I may be able to help you by sharing my experience, even just easing your mind a bit on the issue.

Hi I am with you on cutting the dose and have been doing so since I started due to the high cost. Now on Armodafinil a Generic of Nuvigil. Doing the same with the 250 dose, but the current dose is 200 which has 220 on each pill and cannot get a straight answer on this dose. Got any ideas? Frugal Bob
