Hi, I was on amitriptyline 20 mg before sleep time and venlafaxine 150 mg in the morning. Because of side effects my doctor prescribed me nortriptyline 25 mg in the evening and 25 mg in the morning. I was sleeping better when I was on amitriptyline. Would it be a good idea to take amitriptyline before sleep time and nortriptyline early in the morning. Are there anybody who has sleep issues on nortriptyline? Thanks in advance. ## Hello, Peter! How are you? How long have you been on the Nortriptyline, now? Most of these medications can cause sleep disruptions, but it usually improves after about 4 to 6 weeks, once your bodies adjust to the drug. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes.

I was given 25 mg. of Nortriptyline for mild depression; I had trouble sleeping, and was extremely groggy all day; I could hardly move and when I did, every muscle seemed to ache. It was scary! I thought I had some dreaded disease. one other time I was prescribed the drug citalopram for depression and it sent me into a panic attack. So I'm guessing some of these drugs have the opposite effect on my body. Has anyone else had this problem? I really prefer not to take drugs at all...but there are times when I want some help coping.
