Norco To Morphine - What To Expect?

Please help. My doctor just switched me from 10/325 Norco, 7 daily, to Morphine Sulfate 100mg ER. I am depressed, sleeping & paranoid. What to do?

Please someone help me. Morphine does not give me the feeling of well being like Hydrocodone did before they began fooling around with it. Hydrocodone now does not relief pain, It is just crap.. I use to love life, cooking,working,people etc, but now on this morphine 100 mg, Three times daily, I feel like crap and no interest in anything,
Does anyONE have any advice. Am I taking the morphine wrong? Is there a combination of anything I could talk to my Doctor about. My Doc had to fight with the "insurance company " ???? to get the morphine TID

The feeling of well being was a side effect that some people experience from these medications, and since it sometimes leads to addiction, and abuse, it is actually not desirable. Please note, I am not saying you abused your medication, or were addicted, I am just stating why that feeling really isn't a priority that doctors consider, when prescribing a medication, it is actually a deterrent to them prescribing it.

The reason your doctor had to fight with your insurance company is because the Morphine ER is actually only intended to be taken twice a day, not 3, and in most cases exceptions are only made if someone has pain from a life threatening condition, such as stage 4 cancer.

As to the issues that you are experiencing, Morphine is well known to cause drowsiness, and depression as side effects, as a double whammy, you might also be experiencing some minor withdrawal effects from stopping the Norco.

How long have you been taking it, now?

It's also possible that taking it 3 times a day is a bit too much for you. Morphine and Hydrocodone are equivalent dosage wise, so if you were only taking 70mgs per day of the Hydrocodone in the Norco, you should only need 70mgs of the Morphine, that would even leave room for a slight increase to help pain relief.
