Norco No Longer Works

Updated

I've been on five 10/350 Norco per day for pain for years and it has lost effectiveness. If I were to quit taking it, how long would I need to be off it before it would be effective again?

Hello Farm Boy Snickers,

I've had to do research on this before and really there are just too many variables for any person, medical professional or not, to give an accurate answer. Truth be told it's really up to your body and how quickly or slowly your body adapts to changes. I've seen some studies and claims that people were able to "cycle off" of medicine within a month or two and then go back to medication whereas I've seen others who claim that the tolerance they built to a medication never went away and they they simply had to change medicines.

I know this isn't very helpful but I'd rather be blunt and truthful about the possibility of you not being able to continue taking these meds before someone comes in and gives you false hope that it would only take a month or two only to find out that your body doesn't work that way.

My advice would be to discuss this with your doctor and see what their advice is for you. I don't know your entire medical history nor do I know how dependent upon these medicines you have become to maintain a good quality of life. Your doctor will be in the best position to gauge your options and ask you which route you would like to take among the ones he feels are safe and possible.

Good luck and have a great day.
