No Thyroid And Only 50 Mcg Of Levothyroxine And Weight Gain

I have had a total thyroidectomy in January. After several months and testing I have gone from 100mcg down to 50mcg. I am told that means that there has to be some thyroid tissue remaining. I have gained weight almost 10 pounds, watch what I eat and am on the treadmill 45 minutes a day 7 days a week. I have hot flashes and night sweats multiple times a day. What am I to do not only for the side effects but also the weight gain. HELP!!

Has your doctor provided you with any advice?

Unfortunately, with a thyroid problem and taking Levothyroxine, you may never be able to completely escape the side effects and weight issues.

I remember my mother was never happy with them, but she never did find any other solution.

I was taking Levothyroxine 75mcg for a few years. I recently started synthroid 0.075mcg. Should I expect any side effects?

I have been on either Synthroid of Levo for more than 30 years. Recently I tried Thyro Gold. Nothing has worked for me or has given me horrible side effects.
Where do I go now? I have just about every symptom of hypothyroidism and am miserable most of the time.
Even my doctor is at his wits end.
I sure wish that someone somewhere could really come up with a thyroid cure or at least something that actually would give us some relief.

I had a terrible time on synthroid. I was switched to nature thyroid and it has been so much better. It would be worth they try for sure. I also had a tt and I am still struggling with problems but i am only 8 weeks out from surgery. I am 90% better on the new meds though. I am thinking I may have tissue left over and thats why when they bump me up I have problems. I am also in the middle of having my adrenal Glands tested and low Iron. To other major factors when having issues like this. I actually feel weird in my brain sometime. I know that sounds crazy but I get these weird sensations in my brain. I told my doctor I should not be able to feel my brain. That can't be normal. I hope you find some relief.

has any one tried a holistic doctor for their thyroid problems? I have been on this 75 mg levothyroxine for 5 yrs just hate it.

I am just starting 25mg of levothyroxine but i won't see my Dr to talk about it until Thursday does them starting me on 25mg mean that my thyroid is only under active a tiny bit? Or is that the standard starting dose?

I recently had my thyroid removed. I am on 112 and my level is 0.26. I have gained 19 lbs and legs and feet are swollen as my body feels very pubby. One NP says I need 88mcg another says 112 mcg is right dose. When I go on 88 Endocrinologist says I will gain more weight. What in the world do you do? I have no clue who is correct? My surgeon said stay on 112 I won't gain and it will put me in the middle. I almost feel like I need another dr not an NP.

My endocrino put me on 100mcg a day and it has not changed since my thyrodectomy in june 2015. I gained 6 kilo's! I wander if i can loose the weight.I would choose 1 dr you feel good with & stick with it. I went to several and they said different things, scaring me even that my cancer might have returned; then i realised i must stop asking to many advices as they drive me crazy
