My sister has been going through problems of depression and insecurity. Initially she has been advised Nexito forte for 10 days. She was fine till then. After completing 10 days she was still fine for a week. And now again she had depression problem. Now she has been advised Nexito Forte again. I prefer counseling as it gives long term effect. Also in a couple of years she is planning for baby. Is it advisable to continue with this medicine? Please advise.

Nexito Forte contains the active ingredient Escitalopram, it is an SSRI class antidepressant.

Usually, for people with depression, the best course of action is to use one of these types of medications and couple it with counseling. That way, the medication is used a short-term solution and the counseling helps deal with things on a more long-term basis, just as you stated.

However, some people are born with a chemical imbalance in their brain, that makes them more easily prone to depression and they may always require some type of medication.

These are issues that she will really need to discuss with her doctor.

If she is planning a baby in a few years, there is no need to worry about using this medication now. That is something she should discuss with her doctor, if she is still on it, at the time she wishes to become pregnant.

And, from using it for 10 days and then stopping it, part of her problem could also have been caused by a slight rebound effect. Once your body starts to get used to having these medications, when you stop abruptly, it then has to readjust to not having it. This can result in the return of the depression and it could even be worse than it was, when you started taking it.

RAJALAXMI, as I stated in my prior post, Nexito contains the active ingredient Escitalopram, it is an SSRI antidepressant, which can also be used to treat other mental health disorders.

Its side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, weight gain and dry mouth.

More details:

Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant, which is also sometimes used to treat certain types of nerve pain and as a mood stabilizer.

Its side effects might include: nausea, dizziness, weight gain and peripheral edema.

More details:

Teczine contains the active ingredient Levocetirizine, it is an antihistamine that is used to treat allergies.

Side effects can include: nausea, dry mouth, headache and blurred vision.

More details:

Revlol XL contains the active ingredient Metoprolol in a time released formulation, it is a beta blocker that is used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions.

Side effects might include: nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and headache.

More details:

Telista contains the active ingredient Telmisartan, it is an ARB, used to control blood pressure and cardiac conditions.

Its side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and headache.

More details:

Any or all of these could be causing the fatigue, drowsiness and giddiness that you are feeling. If it is severe and causing you problems, you should contact your doctor, because you may require a dosage change or have to change one or more medications.

As to the itching, the blood pressure medications affect your circulation, that is the nature of how they work, so they may be what it causing that. This is another thing you should talk to your doctor about, because if they are affecting your circulation enough to cause the itching, it really isn't a good thing.

And as to the frequent urination, almost all blood pressure medications will cause that.

Is there anything else I can help with?

1stly I thank for the prompt response.
All the side effect and other details are what exactly I am experiencing.

I hv referred to the best doctor in Bangalore in Wockhardt and St Johns. Doctors tend to take details of the previous prescription regime and recommends to continue instead of changing as you have recommended.

Is there any way I can consult you for a fresh regime of medication and / or go for homeopathic as some members in my family recommend me.

I again thank you for your post which atleast gives me an idea that the symptoms I hail are side effects and not any illness........

this site doesn't provide any medications here, this is an information only website, so I am sorry, but I can't help you with changing medications.

As to homeopathic remedies, there are some supplements that may help, but they aren't actually proven to do and, in the case of your high blood pressure, they may not keep it down enough for it to be safe.

But, some that are claimed to help that you may want to check into are CoQ10, Garlic, Hawthorn, Fish Oil and Folic Acid for blood pressure.

Potassium and Magnesium are also known to help regulate blood pressure, but you have to very careful with the Potassium, as having to much of it can be very dangerous.

As to Type 2 Diabetes, some people do manage to keep theirs under control with diet and exercise, though they do have to very strict about what they eat, so that means a diet plan that is very low in both sugar and fats.

Supplements that are claimed to help with it are: Ginseng, Chromium, Magnesium, Cinnamon, Zinc and Aloe Vera Gel.

Like I said, the only problem with these is they've not been proven to actually do anything and switching from the medications to these might result in your conditions getting out of control, which could have serious health consequences.

Do you have any other questions?

thank you
I wud like to state that the BP & the Diebetic is not bothering me, they are under control and the medicines
do not give me too much side effect issues.

Mainly the itching & the muscle cramp which are side effects of medicines like Nexito is what makes me cry
and though I hv a small happy family my discomfort has made me near to death wish it also makes my little family helpless and unhappy.

Only option I see to go to new specialist and tell him all my issues are new without disclosing the drugs am already consuming to enable them change the regime.

neverthless your information has helped me learn what ails me.
best wishes
