New Subutex Laws (Page 16)

I went to see my doctor this week and he told me that the FDA and the DEA had passed a new law for prescribing Subutex. As of July 1st 2015 Subutex can only be given to pregnant woman or to someone with documentation saying they can't take Suboxone. If you don't have that you will be put on Suboxone.

absolutely incorrect. the naloxone (although has less affinity for the mu receptor) still completely weakens the bupe by the time it hits you. SOME people do not have any trouble because they dont produce the enzyme that makes the naloxone active, while some DO. Therefor, for those of us who DO have it, we are getting the precipitated withdrawal punishment meant for only those who try to abuse the drug EVERY TIME. Hope that clears it up for you.

Just because they both contain bupe doesn't make them the same at all when on3 haa Naloxene in it which is the blocker that keeps people from abusing other opiates. If you take Subutex which contains no Naloxene an addict can use opiates and get their desired high. If they use opiates they can then take Subutex right after. Niw here comes the difference with suboxone. One u take it u cannot use other opiates because they will be blocked from your receptors. If god forbid ur uneducated on this subject like yourself and take opiates and suboxone u will put yourself into precipitated withdrawal. What causes the horrific withdrawal is the NALOXENE. Please educate yourself and for the love of God don't ever give anyone any advice on this subject. Now u mentioned u are an LPN and I'm sorry sir but that is an awful mistruth when you don't even know the difference between 2 drugs. Thank God LPNs are more butt wipers than anything and I'm guessing that's why u haven't been able to become and actual RN. Sadly u would have probably killed innocent people with ur ignorance and lack of intellect. Please stick to pumping gas or whatever menial job u actually truly have..smh

U r very right, I doubt that was a l.p.n. They're a very stupid person and I'm getting scared that they are trying so hard to get drugs off the streets that it's gonna hurt people on subutex or suboxone. I can't believe the 2 a day thing. I think they just made that up. I'm taking 3 suboxone a day and wish I could have 4-5. Everybody has a different tolerance.

I agree. Everyone's tolerance and habits are different and require differences in treatment. The sad reality is so many people abuse the drugs made to help, so it makes it that much more difficult to get the dosage ur body needs. Ur metabolism alone plays a huge role. Have u thought of trading subutex for methadone? At least they will continue to increase ur dosage until u let them know when u are comfortable.

Which enzyme would that be exactly? I'm not being sarcastic. I'm truly interested bcuz I can't find any research confirming that. I do like to learn new things and if I am incorrect on anything I've said I am happy to be corrected.

It don't make anyone any less of a man/woman because they have got to have something to make them feel like every other societal idea of normal. But I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone's smells like s*** but mine!! For you to get on here and try and bash someone because they need to take medicine daily, why don't you go into a diabetic forum and call those folks weak? Instead of trying to bash folks why don't you? Since you must've found the proven perfect way to get clean without the maintenance program why don't you open a program and lead people there???

I live in Tennessee and became pregnant while under a suboxone/subutex Dr's care. I was told that they had a doctor there that was a tenncare doctor and another one became a tenncare doctor. I am 8 months pregnant and can't afford my visit is it legal for them to turn me away?

Also, I've not been required to pay since I've been pregnant because I was u see the impression and have been told by several people and read that it is illegal for them to turn me away. I understand my medicine is covered it's the visit I'm being told suddenly isn't covered anymore.

First of all the alcohol and benzo example, not only does it make no sense medically it makes no sense logically, apples and oranges. So is that what you're so mad about, you must like the sauce and benzo together and the Dr probably won't presceibe them to you and since all of a sudden it's all these peoples fault for taking a medication that you were lead to believe was a faster while lessinng any withdrawal symptoms putting an end to pain pill epidemic. That was the beginning and the drs and pharmaceutical companies, they have the dirty hands. Probably what you do for a living. An LPN, when you become a real nurse and know what your talking about and wanna help others maybe then throw out an opinion. Otherwise why are you on here? You're making a fool out of yourself, you're so ignorant and uneducated there's nothing of value coming from you, so how bout you just remove yourself from the group and cry to somebody else about your lack of self-control and maybe an anger issue.

Who do you think you are other than a judgemental *****? You have no clue. Being man enough or strong enough or having balls is not the point. If you've never been an addict then stay off these sites regarding this. Oh and for the record they do give alcoholics medicine to stop drinking. I'm a nursing aide and phlebotomist and I know that!! What the problem is, is there's always bad apples that ruin it for everyone. The ones who use the program and use it correctly need the program. I take my meds the right way. I go to my group meetings as well as na meetings and therapy. I do not plan to be on this drug for life, I just couldn't do it myself alone so I went and got help!!! I'm actually not allergic to the naloxone, I'm allergic to the ingredients in Suboxone and actually had a horrid reaction to it and was hospitalized because my throat closed up!!! So please before you go on here and act like you know what the hell you're talking about, check yourself and stop being such a ****!

It don't work on everybody. Some people can take it, but there are people who can. I feel that if a person is trying to get of Oxcodone should not have to wait a week or two weeks. One's who are really in need of it , then they need it on that sane day. Please, help those who are really in need of it, gets it that same day. Show that you are helping them by letting that person get it. THANK YOU.

Not sure about the bill or laws, I'm pretty sure dr's aren't going to bold face like to their patients. That being said, it's sad how many jump on the wagon to talk down on those in recovery, it's not totally unfounded though I read the activity on here daily and see many, many posts asking where one can get Subutex instead of Suboxone and we can tell it's just so they can use on top of it, like having their cake and eating it too, not good. But just to straight out belittle someone struggling with addiction well, that's wrong. They are the same drug with the exception of having naloxone in one and not the other. If a patient has a legitimate allergy to the naloxone I would hope and pray that the Dr would verify this and handle it properly and do what has to be done. I do believe, being in recovery myself that when this law or bill takes effect, it will spawn an allergic epidemic and those who are legit in declaring they are allergic will suffer until an undisputable way of evaluating this is found. I wish you luck, and try not to take to heart the harsh uneducated words of judgemental people. For every good thing that comes along there's always those bad eggs who ruin it for everyone else. Wow Jim really touched a nerve. I'm actually glad he did. It goes to show how much negativity a person in recovery endures. We are not trusted, by others and dr's. Those of us in recovery or trying to find it are the ones who bear the brunt of all this negativity. It comes from all directions. We will always have those you frequently hear saying addiction is not a disease, that we are just stupid weak people. Then those who claim we are just getting a free supply of stuff to feel high on, or to trade for drugs. Those who think we should be eradicated cause we are an abomination. Then those who claim that we aren't clean cause we are taking replacement meds. Then those who have no idea what they are talking about but like to judge and point. It's hard enough to face this demon alone but to fight this thing and all the scrutiny that come with it make for a battle. Not to toot my horn but those that have found recovery should be praised and congratulated, not talked down on, I wouldn't wish this on any living thing on the planet.

Yes, there are bad eggs that will hold us back and those that try to ostracize us but we are warriors. Yes, we are to make it through this alive which is a miracle in itself. And you know what, even after we overcome those obstacles then society as a whole is against us, many of us end up with criminal records, and labels that keep us from getting gainful employment, and good safe places to live. It just goes to show just how uneducated, weak, and opinionated those who try to pass judgement on us are. Sadly those kinds are the ones who will make those of us who actually suffer from allergic reactions from naloxone, and make it difficult to get the right meds. God bless each and every one of you, especially those of us in recovery.
