Neuropathy On My Feet

Updated

I'm diabetic. Neuropathy is a big problem with my feet specially at night. I was taking lyrica, I call it a miracle pill for me. The only huge problem with Lyrica was gained so much weight but only in my stomach. I was so happy with Lyrica that never payed attention. Till one day my nephew asked me if I was pregnant. Stopped the meds and tried everything else but nothing works.

I've been taking Lyrica or (Gabapentin) 300mg 3-4 daily for 5 yrs now and I do notice I do eat more, especially if suboxone is added to the mix. I occasionally take suboxone, maybe once a month for 5-7days to break up the pain meds I take, or if I simply run out. Anyways, yes, it all goes to my stomach. Also, maybe more people will post saying the same thing as I'm sure it's a side effect, but the last 3 days I ran out, and boy did my legs hurt. They were killing my feet too! So rest assured you're not the only one going through this.

Weight gain can be a normal side effect of Gabapentin, and Pregabalin, according to FDA warnings. Others might include nausea, dizziness, fluid retention, and mood changes.

What type of foods do you normally eat? How much exercise do you engage in regularly?

Many people that are being treated for some type of chronic pain issue end up gaining weight due to the medications they take, and the fact that they end up living a more sedentary lifestyle.

Nanna how does the Pregabalin work for you? Are these the only medications you are currently taking?

The past 3 days my feet have swelled up so big I can't fit in my shoes and when I'm in the shower washing my legs n feet it hurts so bad from the fluid in my feet. Also my hands are super swollen but my feet are the worst. It's been 3 days and it usually dissipates after a couple of days but now it's not going away. I'm starting to get REALLY worried but I'm not going to the E.R for thousands of dollars for something so petty. My normal doc I owe 300 bucks to cause of a stupid Insurance screw up so I can't go see him. Maybe a walk in clinic cause I do have new insurance but don't know my co-pay. I try to elevate my feet when I can but it doesn't work. Any suggestions on what to do? I've been taking 600-1200mg of gabapentin for 5yrs now so I can't just stop & I have been cutting down a little. Please help. Thanks.

Re: Rawdog (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

The Clark Firm in Dallas, Texas takes on individual Lyrica lawsuits all the time. Most cases never go in front of a Judge, simply because the makers of Lyrica settle out of court. I'm calling them tomorrow to get more information. Will post with what I find out.

You're on Lyrica and Suboxone. That's how these pain management companies make their money. Drugs like what you're taking are BIG Business. The dealers sell these drugs for over %100 profit. Wake up.
