Extended Release Pain Medicine Without Acetaminophen

Updated

I need an extended relief med, I have Hep C so do not want any acetaminophen and all this info is coming from the pharmacist I need to find an alternative extended relief pain medication in lieu of morphine or anything with acetaminophen due to my Hep C liver condition; currently applying for disability and all of this is coming from the pharmacist not the actual doctor. ps I live in FL

Hello, Beckie! How are you?

There is a time released formulation of Oxycodone available that's called Oxycontin, which contains no Acetaminophen and there is also a time released pain patch available called Duragesic, which contains only the narcotic Fenantyl, so you may want to discuss these options with your doctor.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Sorry about late reply but here is a list of extended release meds without tylonol just the med there is

1 oxymorphone aka opana Er
2 fentanyl aka duragesic
3 morphine sulfate aka MS Contin avinza kadian
4 butrans aka buprenorphine Hcl
5 hydrocodone Er aka hysingla and zohydro (newer)
6 nucynta aka tapentadol
7 methadone aka dolophine and methadose
8 embeda aka morphine
9 exalgo aka hydromorphone
10 OxyContin aka oxycodone Er

Look up google search opiate Er list and also opiate converter if you ever want to find out strength for strength conversion in my opinion in order for what works best for pain for me would be 1 fentanyl Duragesic best for pain and easy to use put a patch on every 2 days supposed to be every 3 days but wouldn't work that long so doc has me on every 2 days 2nd would be methadone 3rd would be oxy Er 4th would be opana Er 5th would be morphine but everyone is different and the newer hydrocodone Er is so new insurance won't pay without a prior authorization though you can get one
