Need Doctor Who Will Prescribe Pain Medication In Boardman / Youngstown Oh. Help Please...

Updated

I suffer from severe fibromyalgia for years now. It is documented and has been acknowledged by other Drs. I have recently relocated to Youngstown Ohio. I recently visited a doctor to become a patient for my pain and other unrelated issues- high blood pressure, etc. The doctor pretty much asked me to leave the office and refused to even consider treating my other nonpain issues AND told me that no other Dr. would bother to see me either. My only recourse for ANY medical treatment would be to visit a hospital-apparently here I am untouchable. I cannot begin to believe that this is the norm here. Any help, suggestions, clinics, etc is greatly appreciated. I am suffering daily and need someone to help.

What was his reasoning for dismissing you as a patient and saying no other doctor would touch you?

Is there something in your records that would cause it, such as being dismissed by other doctors? Or were you trying to demand pain medications from him?

I'm not meaning to accuse you of anything, I'm just trying to discover the root of the problem, to see what your best option might be.

My record is clean. No demands made, I simply explained my pain issues and what medication I was taking -Hydro and Ambien and that I am now in Ohio and need Drs. care. That was it. He could not get me out fast enough. I asked about my other non pain issues and he said he could not take me or help me and most likely no one else would. His parting words, "Your untreatable". Never experienced anything like this before. I know about the clamping down on painkillers and the hoop jumping to get care and medication,I've been through it, but this was above and beyond.I'm willing to work with someone and do what needs to be done to be treated legally, this "Dr." didn't even try.

Do you mind telling me the doctors name you saw? A pain management specialist? I know many pain specialist physicians in your area of Ohio. There's two ginormous "pain management practices" with about 12 drs each. Probably only three or four are in business for themselves. And those guys DO NOT have good reputations. So, if you saw one Dr from one practice it wouldn't do you any good to see a different one in the same practice. I'm pretty sure you can do a Google search for "pain management Dr's in Youngstown, OH" and see the list of Dr's names and their addresses. You just have to watch for those that have same address so you don't end up even calling the office of the guy you already saw. We're you referred to the Dr you saw? Anyway, I'm happy to help.

Trying to find a Dr. in Youngstown,OH who prescribes Hydrocodone for severe arthritis is like biting nails, I've been taking them for 5 years in Erie,PA and moved here to Ohio and can't find a decent family Dr. Can someone help me?

Hi there Pinky! Before I responded to you I checked the distance between Youngstown and Erie, Pa. Is it about an hour or hour and a half drive? I ask because you may need to make a trip back there to A, get a refill of your meds and B, ask your Pa Dr to write you a referral to a physician with a "Pain Management" specialty here in Ohio. In Ohio, at least in the Youngstown area, you'll not find a General Practice physician who'll write regular, monthly prescriptions for narcotic pain meds. The state of Ohio "powers that be" have created what is essentially an obstacle course of new rules & regulations for the physician who has a patient with chronic pain. The dea has written a doctrine of how Morphine should be prescribed re:what should not be exceeded per day per patient. The Dr must check the pharmacy board's record of folks who've filled a narcotic already that month blah blah blah. Then the pharmacist can deny filling the script if they feel it's too large a dose or whether the person gives off an addict vibe etc. Back to your problem. Ask your Dr to refer you to one of the local hospital's pain centers. There's St Elizabeth's and Southwood. Also Trumbull memorial hospital. I think it's called Trumbull hospital. It's located in Warren, Oh. Which isn't far at all. Avoid Tiffany Pain Center like the plague. They go by another name. I believe it's Mahoning pain center. I'm sure there's those folks have been patients there for long time and love it but for new patients it's really terrible. A complete waste of time & money. Plus the humiliation of being treated like a drug addict street junkie. I sincerely wish you the best.... oh! Also, don't forget the Rheumatologist Dr! My brother in law has your type of arthritis, sees a Rheumatologist. He's in Fla.. but his Rheumatologist prescribes his pain medication. Please let me know how things turn out for you!

With hydrocodone combination meds becoming a Schedule II Oct 6, 2014. I will be extremely difficult to find a famly dr who will give you this. There is extra work for the dr and they don't get compensated for it.
