Can I take tizanidine and naproxen at the same time? It's my muscle relaxer and the naproxen is for my menstrual cramps. ## I didn't find any interactions listed, but it is always best to double check to be safe. However, I can tell you that they are often prescribed together to treat pain, and muscle spasms. The FDA warns that you may experience more severe side effects than usual, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, dry mouth, and stomach upset. The Naproxen can also cause an increased risk of bleeding. Are these the only medications you take?

I've been taking naproxen and lyrica for shingles pain, but my blood pressure is up and I have swelling on my left side. Do these meds interact? ## No, I didn't find any interactions listed between them, but it is always best to double check. Both pain, and a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory can cause you to have elevated blood pressure, according to FDA and AMA reports. How high is your blood pressure and how much Naproxen are you taking? The FDA also warns that Lyrica can cause hypertension, though it is a very rare side effect. It could be that this just isn't the right medication combination for you. Have you tried an antiviral for the Shingles? It can often help shorten the duration of them, and lessen the symptoms.

What is a small round light blue pill with 220 imprinted on one side and blank on the other? I found it at home with children and just looking to see if I should worry? ## Hi Marbear, If the light blue pill your describing has a bit of an oval shape to it, then my findings point to Naproxen sodium 220mg; an over-the-counter NSAID used for inflammation, fever, minor aches and pains. From what I could gather, the Drug Identification Number is 02385007. If you still have any doubts about the pill ID, I would also encourage you to take it into a local pharmacy for a second opinion. Hope this helps!

I have had shingles for more than a month. I went to urgent care three times already. All my doctors are on vacation now and they don't have a doctor to see me. I am in excruciating pain. First visit in urgent care they gave me Naproxen 375 mg, Valacyclovir 1 GM and Methocarbamol 500 mg at the same time. Along with Shingles I have cracked ribs too. For 10 days (this was the prescription length) I keep in control with baths with baking soda to calm down the pain and burning feeling. After that I was worse than ever. My next trip to urgent care, they prescribed Gabapentin 300 mg 3 times a day, upon following up with my doctor. They gave me a lot tests, cause of an unusual pain (like somebody stabbing a knife in my belly), the Shingles blisters was very severe. It was around my waist l...

I am wondering about an old prescription I have. The only date on the bottle is 3/2/2012. Is it safe to take? ## Hello, Smith1985! How are you? Prescription tablets have an expiration date of one year from the date they were dispensed to you by your pharmacy, because that is when they are removed from the factory sealed container and are exposed to the elements that cause degradation. After the expiration date, this medication does not get dangerous, but it does begin to lose effectiveness and will no longer work as well as when it was new. It would be best to dispose of it and see your doctor for a new prescription. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have aleve that expired in march 2013, will it still work now that it is 3 years past the expiration date or should I just toss...

What pain med can I take while taking sulfamethoxazole? I wanted to take something for pain and all I have is naproxen. Can I take it while taking this medicine or an ibuprofen 800mg? ## The University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu) has a drug interaction tool you can use to plug in and check for interactions between various medications. I went ahead and looked up the combination of Naproxen + Sulfamethoxazole as well as Ibuprofen + Sulfamethoxazole and didn't find any warnings listed. While this does not necessarily mean that no interactions exist, I personally haven't come across any specific details stating otherwise. However, if in doubt, it's always a good idea to double check with your doctor first. If you happen to have any other types of pain medication in mind...

I took a 500 mg Naproxen yesterday, it took a second to kick in. I was having a real bad headache and a friend gave me one. When I got to work I started feeling really relaxed and dizzy. It was like my body felt like putty or I had no bones in my body. Is it suppose to make me feel this way? True enough the headache was gone and I felt like a totally different person but I didn't like the side affects it caused. ## My doctor recommended to start with two 220 mg. pills for arthritis - which would only be 440 mgs and then follow with only one within the time allotted according to the bottle.
