Need Advice On Coming Off And Feeling Better

I HAVE BEEN ON METHADONE FOR 8 YEARS AT 170MG I WEIGHT 105 LBS I RECENTLY HAD A BABY BORN ADDICTED TO METHADONE AND THAT DID IT FOR ME I WAS DONE AND I FOUND A DOC THAT WAS WILLING TO HELF ME OR SO I THOUGHT I WENT COMPLETELY OFF IN 2 MONTHS TOWARDS 60 IT WAS INNTOLLERABLE I LOST MY HAIR AND STILL AM ALL DOC SAID WAS ITS FROM THE SRTESS OF QUITING IT WILL GROW BACK I COULDNT SIT STILL FOR MORE THEN 3 MIN AT A TIME IWAS EMOTIONALLY UNSTABLE COULDNT SLEEP MY BACK IS EVEN WORSE NOW THEN BEFORE SO ON AND SO ON WELL NOW I HAVE HAD TO RESORT TO WHAT I DID BEFORE I STARTED ON METH AND I HAD TO QUIT SCHOOL I AM PIST AT THE WAY THE DOCS FIRST OF ALL ARE NOT EDUCATED AT ALL IN METHADONE SECOND OF ALL TREAT YOU LIKE YOU DID SOMETHING WRONG AND ALL YOUR AFTER IS PILLS PILLS PILLS SO THAT JUSTIFIES THEM NOT HAVING TO TREAT ME HUMAN I DONT THINK SO JUST BECAUSE THEY GOT ME ADDICTED TO THE HYDRO THEN METH DONT MEAN MY PAIN IS ANY LESS THEN SOMEONE WHO HASNT BEEN ADDICTED

after reading your letter and how you had suffered with trying to come of methadone l so felt for you my darling l have been in your position many times infact to count , l lost a baby due to taking to many drugs this is where this illness takes you l presume from the way you talk you are based in the usa, l again feel for you l live in london and get my methadone 80mg a day weekly some have to have it given to them daily but you can prove to your own doctor that you wont abuse it methadone has kept me of heroin cocaine you name it l've taken it but for the past 15 years l have been stablized on 80ml a day this suits me l really feel the states need to get the whole picture . once l told a head shrink who was more or less saying oh one addict is much the same as the other, l argued with this doctor that l thought we were all diffrent and to treat me as one, l may be an addict but l am not the same as anyone else we are all diffrent please if you need to talk you can send me an e.mail l promise to return and talk.

I am on 9 years, and counting, on methadone. I tried three different times to come off of it the ''CORRECT WAY'', by slowly TAPERING YOUR DOSE! I started at 220 mg. of methadone, and tapered down 5mg./week until I got down to 100mg! I DIDN'T FEEL ANY WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS WHAT-SO-EVER.Then, at 100mvg. of methadone, I started a ''MUCH SLOWER TAPER": 3mg/week until I reached 60 mg. I TOOK ONE MONTH OFF FOR MY BODY TO REALLY ADJUST TO THE NEW DOSE&STILL FELT ABSOLUTELY NO, NO, NO WITHDRAWAL! (now, I've walked off of heroine/and got pushed off in jail-IN JAIL BCUZ I WAS STEALING TO MAINTAIN MY DOPE HABIT-but, but but heroin withdrawal is pretty much over in 2 weeks AT THE LATEST! I GOT LOCKED UP WHILE ON METHADONE FOR 90 days of absolute hell that is too disgusting to Eve go into, but the most HORRIBLE PART WAS THE NO SLEEPING& NO ONE CARES!!!Methadone withdrawal lasts months...) BUT WHEN U COME OFF OF IT THE ''CORRECT WAY OF SLOW TAPERING- I SWEAR 2 u that u won't even know you're coming off! The reason my three attempts at tapering failed was because I NEVER LEARNED HOW TO CORRECTLY COPE W/EVERYDAY PROBLEMS THAT ARISE, AND I HAD NO SUPPORTS READY&WAITING TO AIDE IN MY RECOVERY! Now, I was @ 220mg methadone @Xmas, and am now @ 120mg. I went 5mg/wk until I hit 135, and am now going down 3mg/wk until I get to 20mg/or when/if I start to feel uncomfortable AT ALL-EVEN THE SMALLEST THING LIKE STARTING TO FEEL A LITTLE WIERD IN THE MORNING B4 I GET MY DOSE...In conclusion IF U DO IT THE CORRECT WAY, U CAN COME OFF OF METHADONE W/OUT ever HAVING TO SWITCH TO SUBS. I'm writing a book right now that will be on the best seller's list, my agent, publisher, etc. R hoping...I just want to help ppl &I've been dealing w/addiction since I was 16, after I ran away to S.C. to gat married.At the time it was grunge music and then SUPER SUPER SECRET BIG WAREHOUSE PARTIES THAT WERE SOON LABELED RAVES WHERE U COULD GET, LITERALLY ANY/EVERY DRUG U WANTED-acid/mushrooms/special k/crystal Meth/coke/dope/E or X-depending where u were from n called it/Molly which is liquid,IF NOT STEPPED ON: MDMA-straight/dust-sometimesactual PCP& unfortunate times where ppl tried to pass off fermaldehide-YUCK IS ALL I CAN SAY!!!/and whatever else u can possibly think of...trolls-which were mescaline(sorry bout spelling, NO TIME TO SPELL CHK;)+ecstacy+acid in one, and ''candy striping''-mixing E &acid...this can go on and on...my AZ friends (&I m on the east coast in PA)even got peyote@ parties/raves...I don't want to glorify it, or tell ''war'' stories; but sometimes it helps to recognize the same exact behavior, AT THE SAME EXACT TIME, JUST IN TWO DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE STATE, ON DIFF COASTS, OR DIFF COUNTRIES...but u have to know that exactly at the time u'r taking that pill, or snorting that line-SOMEONE ELSE, IN FACT A LOT OF SOMEONE ELSES' ARE DOING THE SAME THING& FEEL THE SAME WAY AFTERWARDS,,,,DEPENDING UPON IF ITS EVEN BCOMEA PROBLEM YET&maybe, JUST MAYBE WE CAN STEER SUM KIDS FROM THE PATH THAT GOT US ON METHADONE/SUBS/ETC,,,imagine all the ppl...
