My Take Home Methadone Tastes Like Lysol!!

I've been going to the same methadone clinic for years now and have all my take-homes ( i pick-up once a week). For the past 2 weeks my doses have tasted VERY different! Also, I've been having symptoms such as, headache, dizziness, fatigue, skin issues, and general malaise. So, I happen to know, from chatting w a nurse, that they use lysol disinfectant to clean the thermos dispensers ( 1 holding water, 1 holding cherry syrup) they use these to water-down or flavor your methadone dose. Well my take-homes have water added, from these dispensers, and now have the uncanny smell and yes taste of lysol... As if they didn't properly rinse them and i'm scared of the potential risk involved in ingesting that. Btw i most certainly know what it should taste like( been drinking it w only water, no flavored syrup for years) as well as what lysol tastes like..if you've ever cleaned w it and breathed in too much you have too. Im disgusted! These ppl take no pride in there job, which is after all, to keep us safe! Has anyone else ever experienced this or something similar? And what do you think I should do about it?

I thought that I've heard just about every negative comment when it comes to the administration of this drug dispensed at licensed MMT clinics nationwide but I was wrong, this is definitely a new one. FYI, Lysol is never used for purposes of disinfecting any equipment used for dispensing liquid methadone. Recently there was a change in concentrate as a result this may taste more chemical than in prior doses. Since this is only several weeks old it would appear you're tasting this anomaly as opposed to Lysol being used for cleaning. I hope this helps...

What does your program say, because I didn't read where you go to them, if they are giving you something wrong and won't fix it, call poison control and see what they say. Three years ago my program changed the type of medicine they were giving us and we fought with them over this, but you have rights

I am also a Methadone patient,why are they putting water in your take homes?? We also have the cherry so it's not a disenigrating methadone. I would find out why. Our clinic uses the pump as well but we get our own water. I would look into this. You may be feeling this way b/c your Met is diluted.

Cherry methadone almost killed my husband. Some people cannot metabolize the red dye they use and it sits in your body. When he changed clinics and got on the white discs he recovered. I get the orange methadone at my clinic (the only clinic left in NYC that still has it) I have been on Methadone for 20 years and I would never join a clinic that has cherry (red) methadone.

Folks,

I'll never understand how people in their active addiction would have consumed or inj. anything just to get them "WELL". All of a sudden they enroll in a Methadone program to save their lives and in a heartbeat they become this health minded recipient claiming to be this paragon of health & consciousness. PLEASE FOLKS GET REAL. If you STRICTLY comply with all clinical standards, rules and responsibilities you would have earned A FULL 28 day ( 1 month ) supply of take home doses in phase 6 within a four year period of time. If the clinic your dosing at doesn't meet your needs simply investigate the use of an alternative dosing clinic.

Currently I take the cherry red liquid form of methadone. My question is, how can I get rid of the nasty aftertaste other than drinking a ton of water? Is there any other drink I can take with it? Thanks!

My clinic is New Seasons in Hagerstown MD. They ONLY offer 27 days as the highest phase. Idk ANYONE at any of the 3 methadone clinics in my area that gets more than 27 take homes. They have us come back in on day 28 to pick up again. Where are you at that your clinic offers a full 28 day take homes? Just wondering, not trying to start drama. I'm naturally curious ??
