My Suboxone Dr Says I Failed For Opiates But I Never Took Any For Over 6 Weeks Now And I Don T Take Any Other Medications How Is This Even Possible

I started suboxone about 5 weeks ago. I haven't taken any drugs other than the suboxone itself for the last 5 weeks straight. I'm on no medication what so ever, not even birth control. Everytime I take a drug test with the 5-7 panels at the clinic it says I'm positive for opiates, they send it to the lab and it comes back negative. This past week same routine they sent it to the lab except this time they're saying it came back positive for opiates. I assure you I did not take any opiates for over 6 weeks now. I don't take any other medications so how is this even possible? I haven't even left my house for the last 6 weeks, only to go to the clinic because I'm trying to stay clean and out of trouble. I'm doing really well and I know that I'm 100% clean off narcotics and drugs. I feel completely insulted and I assure you I did not take anything. I would just come clean if I did as I'm the one who went to get help on my own. I'm not embarrassed or ashamed that I needed help but I feel insulted and embarrassed now that I'm 100% clean that someone's trying to tell me I'm not. Please anybody tell me how this is even possible? Has anyone ever had a wrong false positive from a lab test before? The only thing I can think of is that I ate an everything bagel with poopy seeds on it and drink redbulls everyday practically. Does caffeine have anything to do with it? I can't even imagine some little poppy seeds would cause a false positive but than again how did the test come up positive! I deff have seen it all now!

Poppy seed bagels is what did u in. Cut them out of ur diet and you will be fine. Did u let the sub doc know you have eaten them?

That's what he said was the cause of it. I've cut them out completely since than and haven't had one problem either at the clinic or the with the lab results.

The poppy seeds will DEFINITELY show u are positive as poppys are used to make narcotics!!!

Don't laugh but I've read of poppy seeds doing the same for someone else..you could switch to sesame seed bread? Lol...no laughing matter as I'm similar to you, perhaps you may have taken a headache/pain pill containing codeine, this will give a positive to opiates...otherwise with you being honest, the lab have stuffed up or cross contaminated your specimen....it does happen, these lab techs are human and err the same....hopefully this won't be an issue to your program and staying clean and sober....all the best...ap.

I was gonna say the same thing about the poppy seeds. The thing is, is that these doctors have heard every ridiculous scenario on the planet. Nine times out of ten it's bs but ive been there before. One time i put a suboxone in a pill bottle that i had kept cocaine in from years prior and hadn't realized it until i got the boot. So it can happen. It's just that like i said so many people lie to these doctors that they dont have the mind to deal with it and not to mention that they can also lose their licence to practice.

I go to a psychiatrist. I wanted to get clean and not look on the streets. I also have bad anxiety issues too. My 1st visit I was straight up with him in every way with all my problems. He costs a lot! Last September I started on suboxone and (very low dose) xanax. When I went for my last appt a few days ago, it started off normal. Then he says there's a test problem. Something you want to tell me? I said I ran out of xanax's a few days ago. I told you before they aren't strong enough to help with the panic attacks. He said no, something else. Bad, bad, bad, bad. I said I don't do anything but what you give me. Nothing else! He says your test shows bad, bad, bad! I said no. I'm not doing no crack or methamphetamine or nothin but what I'm prescribed! He said every test has been perfect; but last month fentanyl was in my system. No possible way! The only reason I knew that word was because my 1st husband was dying and they gave him a 3 day patch called fentanyl. That was 16 yrs ago. I have NEVER used such a drug. How do they say it was in me? They had to mess up at the lab. Had too! I take what I'm prescribed only! Nothing else. He did 2 urine tests that day & next Monday I have to take another. Why is this happening? Can anyone help me? I'd take a urine test everyday cause I don't do fentanyl or any drugs. Please help me understand what's going on! Plz.

My son is taking Suboxone but when he does a drug test at his Suboxone doctor it comes up he has another opiate in his system and he's taking nothing but his Suboxone .what could cause this? Please help a worried mom.
