Well I have 2 spots set up but I am back in my home getting less use of my legs and arms. Yes it was lane Peterson his case deal is on the court site. There telling me to contact the Kansas medical examiner so many of us are going to file a complaint that he is not giving us our records. If you are interested in joining us you can call {edited for privacy}. This man has no compassion and I am sorry about his financial problem but he had promised us our records and sent out letters telling us to fill them out and I did so 3 weeks ago. Because. Of him not sending my records I have lost 10 or more Dr.s So if you want to join us call that number ad we can put our heads together for a legal suit. it is illegal for him to keep our records and for the jerk who made the first statement here about trying Detox. Until you walk in my shoes keep your comments to yourself. If it were not for getting on Method one I would still be totally bedridden. I want to puke in the mouths of all you know it all drug free crusaders. Stop commenting on sites like this unless you are able to help those of us who are not ready for death. I am sixty three with thee body of an 80 year old due to DVT' Systemic Lupus, Fibromyalgia, over 150 blood clots in each leg and if I am unable to move around I will die. So take a long walk off a short pier for all of us. If anyone wants to join us call please. Down but not given up!

I was one of Dr. Peterson patient. I have been on high dose pain meds for 10 years. I came to Dr. P already on these meds and he kept me on it. I have been stable with meds. When Dr. P left his practice due to financial issues he made sure I got 2 months supplies of my meds giving me enough time to find a new Dr. At first it was hard to find a pain doctor who would prescribe high dose pain meds. I think there are not very many doctors in KC who is comfortable or knowledgable enough to prescribes high dose so they just say they can't see me. It is not illegal to be prescribed high dose pain meds it's just a lot more work for the doctors to try to get it approved through insurance so a lot of doctors don't want to deal with it. I now found another doctor who would prescribe the same meds. Dr. Peterson was a very compassionate doctor. I am very sorry he had some faniancial issue with his practice. I feel bad for him. Maybe he could not pay for bills at his office and things were shut off. Maybe he has to file bankruptcy. I think people should put themselves in other peoples shoes and be a little more understanding. And not be so self center and play the victim role all the time. It was not that hard for me to find another doctor. I got 2 months and I am sure he did the same for all his patients.

OMG! I had no idea the situation you all were facing, I just now noticed all the posts! This is really bad but love the idea "Sfibrofog" had;
"I went to the pharmacy where I got all my med.'s from and had them print out my prescription records.. it helped with getting SOME of my prescribed medications. at least they knew I wasn't lying with no medical records to back me up. " <----- WOW What a great idea! I know so well how suffering feels and if I had a worst enemy I would not wish it for them.

I have been to three new pain management clinics and NO ONE is prescribing pain medications. As soon as I tell them Dr. Peterson was my previous doctor, it is like they completely disregard anything I tell them about my pain. It is so frustrating. I truly hope Dr. Peterson gets his affairs in order and joins a new practice. He was the most compassionate doctor I'd been to.

Please understand that as a patient I am once again in a holding pattern. Look at it this way folks who have been reading all these postings. We can get together HIRE a doctor and have already a business building to use. With this many comments on this 1 doctor it shows me and many investors that KC lacks in pain management doctors. So if nothing else we can start our own company. Already have a logo for the business. P.A.I.N. Patients Awareness in Narcotics. Yes already getting a copyright to this logo. K.U. is aware of my intentions and will be taking their classes. Please try and make the classes 1 per week 2 1/2 hrs for 6 weeks. They also meet once q month. For more info just use their link. thanks. We need clinics not a hospital setting for pain management and hope everything works out somehow.

Look, I've read all of your replies, and I have this to say: I'm NOT a doctor (and don't play one on TV) but I DO have an extensive knowledge of narcotics, learned by collecting books (including medical text books and books on opiates specifically). I educated myself because I had to. I live in the state with the MOST pain doctors and pain centers. I was terrified when I first moved here, and had gotten SO desperate that I enrolled at a local methadone treatment center because there WAS nothing else. There I met the clinic's doc who has run a pain management practice in addition to being the clinic doc for years (this was in N. Ga./TN) I explained to him why I had originally (in desperation and ignorance) gone to the methadone clinic and tho methadone worked it made me a zombie and my family hated the stigma of it. He understood. I had diabetes for 5 years (approx.) before being diagnosed. Because of this, neuropathy had already caused great damage to my feet. I ended up with three amputations and am fighting to keep my second big toe. As usual, some doctor's who know nothing ABOUT pain figured Lyrica could solve my problems. Well, it does: it makes my feet less numb. But the pain is still there. And as I said earlier, if your doc isn't well-educated or if they are a "combo" clinic like "pain relief/weight loss" something is up. Doctors that specialize is bariatric surgery and medicine aren't experts in pain management! The two are unrelated, except in the brain's reward system, a concept those doctors are likely to know only concerning over-eating. If they are a combo-practice is likely means they are just a money machine OR they look at pain and overeating as DAMAGE to the pleasure/reward area of the brain. You want to avoid these people. Educate yourself. I am lucky to have a doctor who also has a law degree, and my previous dr (the clinic dr with his own pain practice) had fought the dea in court and won several times. WHY? Because if you have legitimate records, they can't say "you're not in pain" and since new laws were past to PROTECT pain patients (like making pain a vital statistic at ER's), the dea responds by doing what they did recently: making hydrocodone a C2. Now there are NO real effective pain killers that can be prescribed and refilled, etc. The way is to fight fire with fire. Be prepared. Be firm. Don't ASK for a specific med but say what has and hasn't worked. Do a search on your doc and make sure he/she hasn't had "problems" in the past or you may become his next problem. Fight on the federal level by CONTACTING YOUR CONGRESSPERSONS and SENATORS! Don't be LAZY! You can EMAIL them! How easy is that?! TELL them your feelings.

Hey, has anyone had trouble finding a new pain Doctor? Everyone I go to tells me they can't see me because Dr. Peterson was my Doctor. It's totally crazy and they wont tell me what's going on.

lane peterson was my first pain doc. saw him for 3 years for severe chronic back pain. he gave me facet point inj's. and 60 mg of percocet a day. i was pain free and doing great until he left. now i cant get my records and have seen 4 different doctors, most who wont prescribe any meds, and my latest who wont prescribe oxycodone for anyone, but has me on Zohydro...which barely touches the pain. since he was my first pain doc, i thought it was normal to get meds that actually worked. but its nearly impossible. i think he really wanted to help us become pain free, and maybe the dea came after him. i feel bad for him

Did any of you who posted on this thread. ..find a new pain management dr? I am still suffering. I was completely coerced into facet inj's. (6) of them. It didn't help AT ALL! Then the Dr asked me what exactly my meds. Were, how long I've been on them (3 yr.s) , and how many times in the 6 mo.s I've been going to their clinic, I've actually seen HIM (not his P.A., (3×)...) He then told me to make sure I made my next appt. With him personally. I am terrified...I just know he's either going to cut my medications way down. Or cut me off. They are only treating my low back pain medication wise..."opiates aren't for fibro."....well maybe not for everyone, but what I was taking..until they dropped 2 of my doses WAS working very well. It took me 2 and a half years to get my meds. Adjusted to help. Now it's just going to be back where I was...no relief. I had gastric bypass in 07. I can't take nsaids. And many if the fibro specific meds. Didn't work, made me to tired, Or made me vomit. I Was taking 30mg. Oxycodone. 6 x a day....first visit they dropped me to 4x a day. Now I'm on that plus 60 MG oxycontin. 3x.a day! For 3 yr.s. it works for my back, shoulders, and all my fibro. Pain. Other dr.s will prescribe that for fibro. It does work. They are called a pain management clinic. Shouldn't they KNOW that's an acceptable treatment? I don't know what to do...how to convince him to leave my meds alone. I only have medicare insurance. So it's hard to find another dr. Please helo...advice ??????

Hello, Petrified! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you'e having.

However, if you're hunting for a new doctor by asking if they'll prescribe it, the problem is likely just going to continue. Doctors will view that as being drug seeking behavior.

What you really need to do is set up an appointment with a new pain management specialists, make sure they get a full copy of your most recent medical records, then keep the appointment and discuss your treatment options. If they can see what has and hasn't worked for you, as documented by a fellow physician, they will be more prone to prescribe accordingly.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Try blue valley surgical center . That is where his P.A. Dr. " Mike" went. They saw me without my medical records but I had to explain a lot!!! I brought in my prescription print outs from all my pharmacies indicating everything I took and who prescribed it. Plus I had to get copies of my past X rays and MRI.s . Blue valley pain centers Dr. Is Marvin Faulkner. He is not that personable. And they immediately cut my pain needs by a 1/3. And I'm coerced into injections that don't work. And I don't want. But that is the only place around that I can find that accepts medicare...not sure on medicaid...I don't have that. The pain centers I called that won't accept that insurance won't even let you self pay if you have medicare/medicare. It's crazy!! If anyone finds a better place. ..Please respond on here...I'd be grateful. But for now it's better than nothing. ..that's the hard truth. Good luck...you'll need it. I'm so sorry. But Lane Peterson over prescribed meds. *according to blue valley) and now his former patients are really screwed and SUFFERING!!

You are in Kansas City Mo. Are there no doctors in that town or surrounding area that would help you? I do not think legally you're doctor can just cut you loose.... I do believe the nurses there at his office should be trying to help you find a specialist considering you have a long list of health problems dating back fourteen years ago! You have been a long time patient of his, I do believe they would help you by finding a dr. and giving you a referral, also you should NEVER stop any type of drug (pain medication especially), abruptly, it can cause serious side effects and believe me doctors know this all to well... Ask the nurse to help you find a dr. and see if they will help you. Believe me I know the fear but seriously, I too have had chronic illnesses that require pain medication since 1996 so I recommend you (if you are unable to get the nurses to help you...), just go through the phone book if nothing else to find a primary care dr. then when you get there tell them the medication you need. Do NOT tell them about the pain medications BEFORE you're appointment because they will tell you they are full. Also, make sure you get a dr. BEFORE you're long time dr. closes his doors so you can go into you're new doctor with documentation of all you're medications and disabilities.
I wish you the very best and do not worry, you will find a dr. to help you.
Good luck!

Laws may be different, but in Florida you OWN your medical records. You can request a copy AT ANY TIME. You have to become a jerk with these doctors, unfortunately. If it's too late and he's gone, I'm sorry. I really am. I won't waste your time saying what you SHOULD have demanded (like 3 post dated prescriptions giving you 3 months to find a new doc AND copies of your records, even if you had to call the police to his office). Still, I can't BELIEVE if there's a teaching hospital there there's no pain therapy clinic which would treat you. Your condition is verifiable by testing and perhaps you went to ANOTHER doctor that might have SOME of the info if not the Rx's..? Otherwise, if all else fails, have an ambulance come take you to the hospital. Tell them honestly what you have and why you can't get your records, and what you are taking. Tell them you aren't leaving until SOMEONE takes you seriously. Sometimes you have to SPEAK LOUDLY if your stick isn't so big. Tell them you know pain is to be considered a vital statistic, and tell THEM to get your records if they need them, otherwise they can do tests on you. Send the bills to the doctor who left you out in the cold, and with it a letter telling him he can pay it or you will bring a legal case against him. Immediately get in touch with the state medical board where he is NOW and do a formal complaint. Be VERY thorough and honest. Tell them what pain this has caused you. Then go get a lawyer. You stand to come out on top in the end.

Being a Chronic Pain Patient for the last 16 continued years. Yes I had cervical pain since the age of 13 years old building new homes in the midwest carrying plywood on my head and causing severe neck pain. There is no such thing as over prescribed medicine. There is over dosing from either the lack of knowledge or just plain stupid. Patients who have been long term learn the do's and don't with meds. I am at the point once again after losing Dr. P in finding another doctor because my current doctor refuses to CONCUR with his treatment. This doctor even said that I must come down at least 33%. So I am wondering after reading all these postings if all the pain doctors got together and said we draw the line in reducing all of Dr. P. patients 33%. Now once again no doctor and from this drop in meds it has brought on full blown Graves Disease and Hashomoto Thyroditis. Very rare but thanks to unskilled pain doctors who have no classes to show proof this is what I get. Good luck to all because we all need it. If anyone knows of a KC doctor I have all my medical records including DR. P's records because I knew how to work the system in getting my records from his office. Guess what ? it does no good. Just use the RX store copy of your last years usage and take it to another doctor. This is their proof you were on whatever type of med's it was. Still needing a Doctor in KC.

@ cherry cake. This is so so bad. No doubt the DEA goes around and monitors these kinds of rooms. I had no idea these rooms even existed until all the postings with Dr.P. Did not even know a person could respond about any doctor. This much I do know. I did in fact watch a PC nerd come in and download Dr. P. PC. He used a stick and even knows I was watching him. I just kept quiet about it because of not knowing what was going on. Sarah was another person I still wonder what her part was,. It is very sad our tax money goes to law enforcement to sit on their a## and figure out who is a problem. Ok if there really is a problem I am not aware of it. Surely there has to be better places to find drug dealers. So many postings I am sure some law enforcement person is laughing their a## off for ruining it for legit chronic pain patients. It pisses me off because of the labor work from 13 years old to now always in pain. They do not understand that part. I may have you a doctor pretty soon. But hell I have to find 1 myself once again because of the lack of paying attention to my health where I now have hashimoto disease. This new doctor had to cut me down 33 % and looked what happens. I warned her many times do not touch my meds well once again another disease from a doctor who did not care. Cherry Pie, just hang in there we shall find a caring doctor. Read your other postings so you have med records. We need more folks to get a board of P.A.I.N. going. KU hospital has 1 going right now. I am going and further advance my knowledge living with chronic pain.

I feel truly sorry for some of you. This dr sounds like a fiend. BUT LISTEN! I have a small library at home about narcotics, the history of pharmacology, and drugs. Though I'm not a practicing dr I know a lot about the subject. In late-stage cancer, sure 100mg might be ridiculous. But by that time people are usually on oral liquid morphine, or Fentanyl. But lets not kid. Narcotics (with a few exceptions) have ONE COMMON SIDE EFX: EUPHORIA. I DO NOT doubt your PAIN, but if you are honest with yourself, you have to admit euphoria is a pleasurable feeling by definition. It doesn't mean you don't have pain to admit that! But you NEED to ask yourself if you need x-amount to kill your pain, or to feel euphoria? Try to lower your dose if you can. I've been down the other road, and I'm trying to take less myself.

If you are REALLY desperate to find a doc who will handle methadone go to a methadone clinic and DO THIS: Tell them your situation. They will say: "We are not a pain clinic." Say: "Okay, but I am now tolerant to the effects of this med." They will tell you (with a wink): "You mean you are "addicted" to this medication." Nod. Do not verbally say yes. Law degree trick? Yes. Solve your problem? Yes. You have nodded your head acknowledging what the other person has said, that is all. You haven't said "yes" that you are an addict. The doctor will ask you some questions. He will look at your pupils. You better skip 3 days. With methadone you should be able to at least skip two days. Fidget a lot. Tell him you don't feel well at all (you don't, do you?). This will buy you time. And don't pre-judge the people around you. Don't get haughty about "these drug addicts". Addiction can happen to anyone. If you don't think so, then you are part of the problem.

I am so sorry for all of you left in the lurch.. It should be criminal.. Some doctors, (but not all) will refer you to someone else. To leave all of you hanging like that is cruel..I'm sure some if you are going through withdrawals too. I'm so sorry.. Its horrible. I've had the same thing happen to me, twice..First time I wasn't on Methadone. Second time I was.. There must be something (if you could all get together and talk) you can do. Maybe consult an attorney..Post in here a meeting at a restaurant.. Putting your heads together could help.. I feel badly for all of you..Again, I have been through the same exact thing..I never did get my records either.. I ended up getting with a pain physician but it took forever.. Good luck and let me know.

P.S. To the person who corrects everything people comment on.. It is my opinion. I have been through this b.s. for OVER 20 years. I do know what I am talking about!! I have done many many many years of research on pain medications, dealt and talked with addicts, people who go to Methadone clinics, and spent hours and hours with pain physicians. Not to mention I have been through this red tape, hoop jumping, u/a's, pill counting crap! For instance you commented on my hospital sign comment.. In my state I help (for free) people find pain physicians, only, and I mean only, if they have the proper diagnostic results and films.. I never said it applied anywhere else but a hospital., did I? No..I didn't.. Don't read into things. I meant what I said. And if you'd inquire, you'd find out these people know too. We aren't all dummies or i****s..
