Hello, Petrified! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you'e having.

However, if you're hunting for a new doctor by asking if they'll prescribe it, the problem is likely just going to continue. Doctors will view that as being drug seeking behavior.

What you really need to do is set up an appointment with a new pain management specialists, make sure they get a full copy of your most recent medical records, then keep the appointment and discuss your treatment options. If they can see what has and hasn't worked for you, as documented by a fellow physician, they will be more prone to prescribe accordingly.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Well I have 2 spots set up but I am back in my home getting less use of my legs and arms. Yes it was lane Peterson his case deal is on the court site. There telling me to contact the Kansas medical examiner so many of us are going to file a complaint that he is not giving us our records. If you are interested in joining us you can call {edited for privacy}. This man has no compassion and I am sorry about his financial problem but he had promised us our records and sent out letters telling us to fill them out and I did so 3 weeks ago. Because. Of him not sending my records I have lost 10 or more Dr.s So if you want to join us call that number ad we can put our heads together for a legal suit. it is illegal for him to keep our records and for the jerk who made the first statement here about trying Detox. Until you walk in my shoes keep your comments to yourself. If it were not for getting on Method one I would still be totally bedridden. I want to puke in the mouths of all you know it all drug free crusaders. Stop commenting on sites like this unless you are able to help those of us who are not ready for death. I am sixty three with thee body of an 80 year old due to DVT' Systemic Lupus, Fibromyalgia, over 150 blood clots in each leg and if I am unable to move around I will die. So take a long walk off a short pier for all of us. If anyone wants to join us call please. Down but not given up!

Darn it. Why can't we be allowed to contact each other? I too need my medical records and I would like the number !!!! I'll tell you his P.A "Dr mike" joined blue valley surgical center in overland park. I ran into him at mcdonalds..He gave me h us card, so I went there. They would not give me what fr. Peterson was..so I am suffering ...I am so angry.. Was dr. Peterson wrong giving me what he did? It helped ALOT Or is the new place not caring?? I didn't know it Was on the court docket. I'll look it up. One thing helps though. I went to the pharmacy where I got all my med.s from and had them print out my prescription records.. it helped with getting SOME of my prescribed medications. .at least they knew I wasn't lying with no medical records to back me up. I don't think I could bring myself to sue him. But I never even got the letter if where to write to ask! Thanks for the good info.

Hey, has anyone had trouble finding a new pain Doctor? Everyone I go to tells me they can't see me because Dr. Peterson was my Doctor. It's totally crazy and they wont tell me what's going on.

Try blue valley surgical center . That is where his P.A. Dr. " Mike" went. They saw me without my medical records but I had to explain a lot!!! I brought in my prescription print outs from all my pharmacies indicating everything I took and who prescribed it. Plus I had to get copies of my past X rays and MRI.s . Blue valley pain centers Dr. Is Marvin Faulkner. He is not that personable. And they immediately cut my pain needs by a 1/3. And I'm coerced into injections that don't work. And I don't want. But that is the only place around that I can find that accepts medicare...not sure on medicaid...I don't have that. The pain centers I called that won't accept that insurance won't even let you self pay if you have medicare/medicare. It's crazy!! If anyone finds a better place. ..Please respond on here...I'd be grateful. But for now it's better than nothing. ..that's the hard truth. Good luck...you'll need it. I'm so sorry. But Lane Peterson over prescribed meds. *according to blue valley) and now his former patients are really screwed and SUFFERING!!

You are in Kansas City Mo. Are there no doctors in that town or surrounding area that would help you? I do not think legally you're doctor can just cut you loose.... I do believe the nurses there at his office should be trying to help you find a specialist considering you have a long list of health problems dating back fourteen years ago! You have been a long time patient of his, I do believe they would help you by finding a dr. and giving you a referral, also you should NEVER stop any type of drug (pain medication especially), abruptly, it can cause serious side effects and believe me doctors know this all to well... Ask the nurse to help you find a dr. and see if they will help you. Believe me I know the fear but seriously, I too have had chronic illnesses that require pain medication since 1996 so I recommend you (if you are unable to get the nurses to help you...), just go through the phone book if nothing else to find a primary care dr. then when you get there tell them the medication you need. Do NOT tell them about the pain medications BEFORE you're appointment because they will tell you they are full. Also, make sure you get a dr. BEFORE you're long time dr. closes his doors so you can go into you're new doctor with documentation of all you're medications and disabilities.
I wish you the very best and do not worry, you will find a dr. to help you.
Good luck!

OMG! I had no idea the situation you all were facing, I just now noticed all the posts! This is really bad but love the idea "Sfibrofog" had;
"I went to the pharmacy where I got all my med.'s from and had them print out my prescription records.. it helped with getting SOME of my prescribed medications. at least they knew I wasn't lying with no medical records to back me up. " <----- WOW What a great idea! I know so well how suffering feels and if I had a worst enemy I would not wish it for them.

lane peterson was my first pain doc. saw him for 3 years for severe chronic back pain. he gave me facet point inj's. and 60 mg of percocet a day. i was pain free and doing great until he left. now i cant get my records and have seen 4 different doctors, most who wont prescribe any meds, and my latest who wont prescribe oxycodone for anyone, but has me on Zohydro...which barely touches the pain. since he was my first pain doc, i thought it was normal to get meds that actually worked. but its nearly impossible. i think he really wanted to help us become pain free, and maybe the dea came after him. i feel bad for him

Did any of you who posted on this thread. ..find a new pain management dr? I am still suffering. I was completely coerced into facet inj's. (6) of them. It didn't help AT ALL! Then the Dr asked me what exactly my meds. Were, how long I've been on them (3 yr.s) , and how many times in the 6 mo.s I've been going to their clinic, I've actually seen HIM (not his P.A., (3×)...) He then told me to make sure I made my next appt. With him personally. I am terrified...I just know he's either going to cut my medications way down. Or cut me off. They are only treating my low back pain medication wise..."opiates aren't for fibro."....well maybe not for everyone, but what I was taking..until they dropped 2 of my doses WAS working very well. It took me 2 and a half years to get my meds. Adjusted to help. Now it's just going to be back where I was...no relief. I had gastric bypass in 07. I can't take nsaids. And many if the fibro specific meds. Didn't work, made me to tired, Or made me vomit. I Was taking 30mg. Oxycodone. 6 x a day....first visit they dropped me to 4x a day. Now I'm on that plus 60 MG oxycontin. 3x.a day! For 3 yr.s. it works for my back, shoulders, and all my fibro. Pain. Other dr.s will prescribe that for fibro. It does work. They are called a pain management clinic. Shouldn't they KNOW that's an acceptable treatment? I don't know what to do...how to convince him to leave my meds alone. I only have medicare insurance. So it's hard to find another dr. Please helo...advice ??????

I have been to three new pain management clinics and NO ONE is prescribing pain medications. As soon as I tell them Dr. Peterson was my previous doctor, it is like they completely disregard anything I tell them about my pain. It is so frustrating. I truly hope Dr. Peterson gets his affairs in order and joins a new practice. He was the most compassionate doctor I'd been to.

I agree he was so nice, he honestly cared about his patients. I have no Idea where he went. He was supposed to sign on with blue valley surgical center/weight loss/pain management. . But i have a feeling he wouldn't be a very good fit. Their whole practice...not one competent or professional nurse, they have medical assistants who act like dr.s. they actually are writing ALL the scripts....dr/PA. glances at them and signs. am currently going there. Not happy with it. But better than nothing.

I am seeing the nurses assistant for Dr simon. she is pretty open to trying lots of things. you do have to sign the contract and pee in a cup. they are good there as long as you dont go in demanding medications

Where is Dr simon? And who is the nurse practitioner? I understand about "demanding medications" ( it makes you look like a "drug seeker". I am trying to get away from the one I'm seeing now (faulkner) but I need a replacement . (With medicare) did you need a referral for dr. Simons P.A. ? Sorry so many questions. ..... kind of desperate.

dr simon is at college and antioch. his nurse practitioner is Donna. she has been open to trying different things. now using this pain cream from a compounding pharmacy. helps if you have pain in one or two localized areas...but hard to use when pain is all over

Has anyone figured out where Dr. Peterson went to?

I believe virginia. I Googled him to see. My current dr. (Faulkner) says he will no longer take on any more of Peterson former patients. He said that we were all way over prescribed narcotics and it was "criminal" that he got us all hooked, then just left the state.i had a terrible time finding a dr. Not that tty he one I have now is "great", but I am grateful to even be able to see him and get part of my previous medications. .

Please tell me that isn't true! Why would he be in Virginia his family is all from iowa his fiance and family are from here in kc. I had heard that he was in Ottawa, ks. But don't know if that's true either I have insurance&like the rest of you my new Dr cut me back and I had to go get all new mri's (not cheap) what do the 1st few posts mean. .. About some court case? Was Dr P. In trouble or are they just talking about doing something to get their med. records? Please tell me who to try to see besides this Faulkner any recommendations will be truly appreciated. I'm obviously on some strong meds but I want someone to give me my radio frequency and injections too those were helping

Sweets, 150 mgs of Methadone is a HUGE dose. PDR(the drs med book) recommends 60mg as top dose. My 12 yr pain Doc prescribed 120 mgs a day for 12 years. When I detoxed from that amt. I went thru 4 yrs of hell before I felt anywhere near normal. My new pain doc tried Morphine ER but it's coated and any coated med(ie Oxy) travels from stomach up esophagus and rots your teeth from the inside out. Wish I could sue Purdue for my implants needed soon from damn OxyContin. Now back on Methadone BUT 5mgs 3x a day and that's it for me.

Hi. I know this is an old post but I'm wondering what doctor you were able to find? My doctor abruptly left his practice leaving myself and others in a bad spot.

Try dr Marvin Faulkner in lenexa , ks. It's kansas Institute of medicine. Bring in all your medication bottles empty. And records. When your dr. Retired, didn't he give you a referral? Mine didn't either , I was on my own for 2 months until I found blue valley, then followed Faulkner to the new place. Good luck.

Can someone please help me. My boyfriend is in methadone treatment now. He gets up at 4:30 every morning. He has quite a few medical issues and the lack of sleep is wearing him down. We've decided that getting a doctor to prescribe it would be both easier and cheaper. The only problem is, the methadone makes him have zero appetite so he consumes marijuana to help him eat and helps a little with the nerve issues and such. His clinic lets him but does anyone know a doctor who will allow it?

I am so sorry for all of you left in the lurch.. It should be criminal.. Some doctors, (but not all) will refer you to someone else. To leave all of you hanging like that is cruel..I'm sure some if you are going through withdrawals too. I'm so sorry.. Its horrible. I've had the same thing happen to me, twice..First time I wasn't on Methadone. Second time I was.. There must be something (if you could all get together and talk) you can do. Maybe consult an attorney..Post in here a meeting at a restaurant.. Putting your heads together could help.. I feel badly for all of you..Again, I have been through the same exact thing..I never did get my records either.. I ended up getting with a pain physician but it took forever.. Good luck and let me know.

P.S. To the person who corrects everything people comment on.. It is my opinion. I have been through this b.s. for OVER 20 years. I do know what I am talking about!! I have done many many many years of research on pain medications, dealt and talked with addicts, people who go to Methadone clinics, and spent hours and hours with pain physicians. Not to mention I have been through this red tape, hoop jumping, u/a's, pill counting crap! For instance you commented on my hospital sign comment.. In my state I help (for free) people find pain physicians, only, and I mean only, if they have the proper diagnostic results and films.. I never said it applied anywhere else but a hospital., did I? No..I didn't.. Don't read into things. I meant what I said. And if you'd inquire, you'd find out these people know too. We aren't all dummies or i****s..

Dr Marvin Faulkner he is at kansas institute of medicine on Lakeview ave. In lenexa. Don't tell him you want to "go up" in medicine. Tell him you were a long time patient of dr. peterson (he knows and dislikes him, says he "over prescribed") tell them you've been forced to see you family physician because of this, and cannot get your records (he'll definitely understand THAT!) he'll ask what your taking.. explain what even take bottles. ..but while he's still fuming over dr peterson and then lack of your records, tell him you need a pain management dr. Because you are still in so much pain. They will make you take a drug panel before you get in (sometimes 2nd visit) they will help you. And be prepared to explain everything they've already done.. inj's ect. And what diagnostics...x ray ect. He's the type of dr you'll love or hate. I used to hate him. Now I block him lol. Good luck.. let us know what happens. Ps. I was dr. Ps patient too...talk about up creek without a paddle. Dr. P is at blue valley now but they will not give any narcotics anymore. They want to do expensive diagnostics and inj's. No way!

If you are REALLY desperate to find a doc who will handle methadone go to a methadone clinic and DO THIS: Tell them your situation. They will say: "We are not a pain clinic." Say: "Okay, but I am now tolerant to the effects of this med." They will tell you (with a wink): "You mean you are "addicted" to this medication." Nod. Do not verbally say yes. Law degree trick? Yes. Solve your problem? Yes. You have nodded your head acknowledging what the other person has said, that is all. You haven't said "yes" that you are an addict. The doctor will ask you some questions. He will look at your pupils. You better skip 3 days. With methadone you should be able to at least skip two days. Fidget a lot. Tell him you don't feel well at all (you don't, do you?). This will buy you time. And don't pre-judge the people around you. Don't get haughty about "these drug addicts". Addiction can happen to anyone. If you don't think so, then you are part of the problem.

Dr peterson is at blue valley in Overland park, however they are no longer prescribing "narcotics" at that cl8nic...how they call themselves "pain management " I don't know! However dr Marvin Faulkner will. (If warranted) he is at kansas institute of medicine. in lenexa,ks. On Lakeview ave. Good luck
