Hello Kelly,

What a crazy story! I can't believe that one of them just started to pop out. I hope it didn't hurt too badly.

According to the manufacturers webpage both containers of Jadelle need to be in your arm. The reason for this is that both of them are given a certain amount of levonorgestrel to be dripped out. The containers were designed so that both of them would be dripping and by not having one of them you are only receiving half a dose and thus not receiving the full benefits of protection.

The website continues to state that you need to replace these containers every 5 years and so it seems practical that if you need to replace them soon anyways it might be in your best interest to simply have the other one removed and have two completely new ones put in. Ultimately it would be up to your doctor though to discuss the options you have as I am not a medical professional and I don't know your situation completely.

I hope this information helps.
