Miralax Timing

I took 68 grams (4 caps) of Miralax today because the colonoscopy procedure that I will have (this is two days before the pocedure). I had to use the restroom after 5 hours. Is that normal? I thought that Miralax would work at least the day after. Thanks

Sounds kinda strange, was it really runny and did you have to keep making trips?

Hello, Rob45! How are you?

It can really vary from person to person, much of it depends on your body, your normal diet, your fluid intake, other medications you may be taking, your overall health and etc.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of Miralax as possibly including nausea, flatulence, stomach/abdominal cramping and diarrhea.

It would be best, however, to contact your doctor, as they may want you to take an extra dose, since this occurred.

I had to take it after surgery, due to constipation from the anesthesia and pain medications and it worked in a very short time for me, which was unexpected by me, as well.
