Metoprolol Withdrawal (Page 122)

Updated

i've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol.

i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred.

is this withdrawal? how long will it last?

i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad.

Your heart beats ALOT per day so I think it’s ALOT PVCs. Like a drastically ridiculous amount!

I haven’t :( I’m part terrified to and I can’t breastfeed while on it so I’m working on weaning. I might have to go cold turkey. I want to try the med this week.

I also got my first Covid vaccine yesterday son I was waiting to make sure I didn’t have a reaction before I started a new med.

I keep getting these little spikes in the middle of the day where it’s like adrenaline and 130 HR. So I def want to start the med to see if it settles everything down. Other than that, my HR hasn’t been too bad

How are you doing?

RV- dr said they aren’t even concerned about PVCs until your burden hits about 15-20% of your daily HR and that’s a CRAPPPPP ton.

My normal blood pressure has always ran low. So even when I get the spikes from metoprolol withdrawals it’s still within normal range.

Re: RV (# 2430) Expand Referenced Message

I’m having such weird gastric issues and I’m wondering if THATS causing some of these heart issues since it can agitate the vagus nerve. I might have to make an appt with gastro.

You DO NOT have ALS :)

I’m having a weird night but I think it’s the gastric issues making me the think it’s the heart. Every time I take an ecg heart is normal sinus rhythm and not high. I also sometimes feel like I’m not breathing good or it’s a weird sensation I can’t describe but ecg shows all normal. This is all just absurd

I have gastric issues too they have subsided there is a good connection between gut and heart and breathing issues also come with it. Now anxiety can also cause gastric issues . Yes i am so tired of being anxious all the time one good day and two bad days. Staying alone in a hotel for 14 days is not helping as well. How are you doing?

I have an appointment with gastro tomorrow on March 8th. Since my stomach acid hasn’t let up yet they are going to do an endoscopy.

Are you on meds? I’m afraid they’ll just want to throw meds at me and not listen. What did you tell them you were feeling? I would prefer they investigate instead of throw meds

I’m on Prilosec. They did a scope before they prescribed it. I had a ridiculous amount of stomach acid. They are doing another one because while the Prilosec helps, it’s not helping enough. I’ve never had stomach acid issues in my entire life. This medication is just awful!

Re: Juliya (# 2435) Expand Referenced Message

Did you feel like you had a hard time swallowing with the acid? Not hard time but that it feels weird?

I keep having these weird sensation when I swallow like something is stuck and I’ve tried to drink so much water and nothing. It’s starting to freak me out.

I don’t know if I should go back to ENT or make appt with gastro.

Re: RV (# 2436) Expand Referenced Message

Only about 30% of people have a bad reaction to it. It really all depends on your body. My mother is on a beta blocker. She takes bisprolol for high blood pressure and has been on it for over a decade. She’s never had an issue stopping. That 30% isn’t significant enough for them to do studies on because the vast majority don’t have any issues that’s why no doctors believe it’s from the medication. It’s a sad reality really.

Re: Txcandy1 (# 2437) Expand Referenced Message

Yes. Feeling like something is stuck in your throat is a GI issue. I would make an appointment with a GI doctor just to get it looked at and checked out. Too much acid build up can cause a lot of permanent issues if it’s not taken care of. The acid that comes up from your stomach can damage other organs over time.
