Metoprolol Withdrawal (Page 118)
Updatedi've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol.
i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred.
is this withdrawal? how long will it last?
i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad.
Re: RV (# 2340)
Read below, just got approved
I have an appt tomorrow with GP. Going to ask for thyroid check and maybe electrolytes. What else can I ask to be tested for. Hormones? Anything else that would be useful?
I am going to ask for a referral to the electrophysiologist of my choice for a 2nd opinion. I do think my cardio is a good one, he’s just not the one I chose. He was the one on call when I first went to hospital and so that’s how I ended up with him. I think getting a 2nd opinion would make me feel better.
Still having a hard time breathing?
Does SVT count as a reason to get the Covid vaccine LOL I want to sign up, listing that as the reason but they might laugh and think what an idiot lololol
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2341)
I got myself tested for liver, kidney, thyroid, cholestrol , cbc.
It happens in waves but i feel i have to sigh every 2-3 minutes to get a satisfying breath . Did this happen to you as well? It was gone for 2-3 days but came back stronger now. I doubt you’d get the vaccine because of SVT hahah
Re: RB (# 2342)
I am getting all these weird sensations right now (it’s 3am) and it’s taking everything in me not to go to the ER. I’m getting adrenaline rushes, which then causes the shakes like if you’re cold, my HR is up and I just feel like complete sh**. I don’t understand what the heck is going on with my body. I never ever had this before beta blocker and it’s hard for me to believe after 9 months off being off my body is still not recovered.
I’m at my freaking wits end. No one seems to have answers
Juliya how have you been feeling?
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2343)
I got a new symptom too twitching right below the centre of chest now i dont know if its sternum or diaphragm or oesophagus it comes and goes lasts for 5 seconds only. I am absolutely clueless about what should i do now. Hopefully you are able to sleep peacefully i slept at 4 am as well
Re: RV (# 2344)
Like do I just make the rounds of appt? Endocrinologist, gyno for hormones? Like I don’t know what else to do
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2345)
How was your day? Any better? I am tired now
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2345)
How was your day ? I am myself wondering how many doctors should i see and how do i get new symptoms every day
Re: RV (# 2347)
Last night was better.
I had appt with GP on Tuesday and she gave me the referral to the new electrophysiologist. She also ran labs for thyroid and electrolytes I think the full blood panel. She said she thought my thyroid felt “a little inflamed” more on that later
I called new cardio and asked if they had received the referral and they said yes but said I now needed the referral to come from my other cardio. WHAT? I said why when my gp has all the records and is referring me. She asked why I was being referred and I said I had a loop recorder plus I’m moving to that side of town and needed to find one closer ( didn’t want to say it was for 2nd opinion) but now am I going to burn the bridge with current cardio? if they make me get a referral from them plus have records transferred. What a mess. I don’t understand why the referral from my GP isn’t enough. I really didn’t want my current cardio to know I was getting a 2nd opinion.
2. I had a follow up with my ENT today and asked him about my thyroid since he is the specialist.
1. How he felt my thyroid and what he did was nothing like the NP did on Tuesday who said it felt inflamed :::eye roll::: ENT was all up in it and made me swallow a few times. He said based on touch and feel ( he’s been doing this for 30+ years) it felt normal but is sending me for an easy ultrasound because that’s really the only way to know. I really love my ENT. He listens and it’s proactive.
Anyways, I go back to gp on Tuesday for all the lab results.
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2348)
Private health care in India is pretty good in that sense instant appointment not expensive can consult any number of doctors that we want. Ecg is cheap 10-15$ at state of art hospital consultation fee is for the best doctor in the city is 30$ tops this is what i will miss when i go to singapore. I also saw pulmonologist day before yesterday he told me allergic asthma said no need to take x ray or ct scan.
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2348)
How are you guys doing from last couple of days?
Re: RV (# 2350)
I’m ok. Just trying to figure out what’s going on with my body. I had an ultrasound this morning of thyroid. That was fast and easy.
How are you feeling?
Juliya have you come across a way to heal the CNS. Supplements? A detox? Anything? Is that even possible?
Re: RV (# 2350)
So had my lab results back and all were stellar. Thyroid normal, iron normal, electrolytes normal, liver normal, blood normal, kidneys normal, glucose and on and on. Basically GP is like based on labs there’s no reason to be feeling funky and have sinus tach. I told her again how I didn’t have any of this before the beta blocker.
Anyways trying to set up 2nd opinion with electrophysiologist.
Can all this REALLY be still from beta blocker? Is my system still jacked?
Do I need to see Homeo path? Chinese herbalist? Acupuncturist? Detox? WHAT CAN WE DO to set our body back to normal!!!??!
LOL
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2352)
Its just funny right now . I got all the blood reports done in December when i saw my cardiologist all came back clean. 2 ecg , 2d ultrasound abdomen doppler all came back normal. the best part is we end up getting new symptoms every couple of weeks.
Re: RV (# 2353)
Yup! It’s just so bizarre. I don’t have too many new symptoms but I’m sick of these old ones. I want my body to heal and move on. I’m sick of the tachycardia and the dizzy weird head.
In other news, I finally got an appt with bee cardio so we shall see how it goes.
How are you feeling?
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2354)
When is the appointment?
Feeling good today with minor anxiety
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2351)
I unfortunately have not. If I knew how to do that I’d be a millionaire by now! Time is the only healer right now.
Re: Juliya (# 2356)
How have you been feeling?
I’m thinking about consistent acupuncture to help in the healing. What can I lose?
Re: RV (# 2355)
Ugh not bee cardio but NEW cardio LOL.
My appt is on Tuesday.
I’ve had a good few days too with little symptoms that are bearable
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2351)
Yes the bench mark is so low that having bearable symptoms is now considered a good day! Glad you got the appointment of your preferred cardiologist.
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2357)
It may help! I’m still over here having waves and windows. Right now I’ve been in a horrible wave for 3 weeks now. Blood sugars are ridiculously high again. Adrenaline surges. Every thing!
