Metoprolol Withdrawal (Page 116)

Updated

i've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol.

i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred.

is this withdrawal? how long will it last?

i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad.

Re: RV (# 2300) Expand Referenced Message

Well I just had an episode that I haven’t had in a wile. I was napping a bit in bed and was woken up with a racing heart rate of 130 :( and now it’s just sitting kinda high and when I walk around back up to 130. Dont know if I should take 1/4 channel blocker to settle it down or not. I swear when will all this just be over and I don’t have to think about it.

How are you feeling today?

Juliya, what are your waves and windows feeling like these days?

Just a week to go for your appointment make a list of all the questions that you have although most of them will be dismissed as anxiety. I had decent few days without feeling the need to take a deep breath which changed yesterday even though spo2 shows 97-99% i am finding it difficult to have a good breath. Also, not wearing apple watch has done wonders for my health anxiety

I did. They come and go. It’s not like a consistent thing.

Re: Juliya (# 2305) Expand Referenced Message

Sorry to bother you time and again. But is shortness of breath different from getting the urge of taking a deep breath ? Because i dont feel tired if i do anything but once or twice a day i get this feeling where my breathing is not proper or is weird it has gone down by 70-80% after quitting metoprolol but the issue still persists .

Re: RV (# 2306) Expand Referenced Message

Shortness of breath is when you feel like you have to breathe heavier or harder because you feel like you are not getting enough oxygen.

Thank you . It happens to me like once or twice in two three days for a few minutes resolves on its own and scares me for the rest of the day. Definitely happened after starting the meds i’ll try to see the doctor and ask him to take an xray first. He has heard it through stethoscope and says its anxiety but this happens to me on non anxiety days as well.

I took Tylenol around 11pm and I think it got stuck half way down :( it’s giving me anxiety and all these funky feelings. I tried to gulp water to flush it down but I can feel it just stuck right in the middle. Of course I’m trying not to freak out but I swear... if it’s not one thing it’s another. Today was semi ok too. I’m just getting these little rushes of weird sensations trying to sleep and I think it’s the damn pill stuck. Only 3 more days till my cardio appt!!! I just want to feel normal!

How are you two?

Re: RV (# 2310) Expand Referenced Message

I’ve had horrible sinus tach the last 3 days. Cooking lunch, 145. Like what the hell :( it’s like if it’s not one thing it’s another. I haven’t had this bad of sinus tach in awhile. Wondering if it’s beta blocker side effects coming back. I had a pickle pop for electrolytes. I can’t wait to talk to my cardio on Wednesday. This is all madness

Re: Txcandy1 (# 2311) Expand Referenced Message

Exactly its one or the other symptom each day . I have to move to singapore alone in a few weeks time and i am scared about staying alone. Hope you have documented all the symptoms and prepared the list of questions. When i saw my cardiologist last month 80% of times he said its anxiety and over active nervous system. Hoping yours will be able to answer each question

I’m so annoyed today. I don’t know if I should take a 1/4 channel blocker to bring my sinus tach down or just let it run it’s course. I’m so tired of these days not knowing if when I wake up it’s going to be normal or if I wake up it shoots to 135 just cooking dinner. This is exhausting and frustrating

Txcandy1 (# 2312) --

Exactly every day its something new and different also if a symptom has run its course there will be a new symptom the next day when i wake up. Then my mind thinks you should see a doctor right now and its and endless loop of new sensations , symptoms, disease and worry. Just a day to go for your appointment

Re: RV (# 2312) Expand Referenced Message

I need to prepare a list of questions for sure.
I’m really hoping he has a procedure date ready. I’m so ready to get it done and feel normal ( praying it’s successful)

I didn’t end up taking a Channel blocker and just let it be high all day yesterday.

Today it seems to have calmed back down to normal.

I know the procedure will be for the SVT but my question is that will that also return the sinus tach back to normal or is that something completely different.

Are you moving for work? You will be ok! I know we will all move past this and feel normal one day. I just hope that day is sooner rather than later.

The weird thing is, is right before all this started, I had been in Ireland having the best time for 12 days ( right before Covid hit) and I was feeling great and amazing. I really don’t understand how it all went downhill and this whole last year after was a wash. It’s just crazy.

Glad you are doing okay! Its just that once a symptom subsidies other thing pops up its like a loop . The best part is each day all of us have something to write about never a boring symptomless day for us . Yes moving for work founded a startup which is backed by govt of singapore that was the only good thing of 2020 but now this stupid anxiety has taken over my mind.
Yes i read about you returning from Ireland in thread earlier when i was reading through .

Re: RV (# 2316) Expand Referenced Message

I’m beginning to distrust my Apple Watch and I’m sure at times it just creates unnecessary anxiety. Right now I watched it jump from 44, 57, 122, 79 back up to 80 BPM all within a couple minutes. I had my oximeter on and it was 82 BPM the whole time. I also checked it manually and it was 82 as well ???????? what’s up with the Apple Watch bouncing all over the place. My band is snug on the wrist

Also my HR has been lower today in general but WHY does that freak me out lolol it’s like it’s actually lower but in my mind I’m like WHY isn’t it tachy like it usually is. WHATS WRONG....

Ughhh what is thisssss lolol so very very frustrating.

Re: Txcandy1 (# 2317) Expand Referenced Message

Thats what happens to me like when its low i get scared why is it not high if it is high then i get scared. It all started with apple watch i was sitting and it went to 151 for a second i panicked and went to ER at 12am . We are hypochondriacs with psychosomatic symptoms and thats a fact . My friend who was wearing a garmin the watch said his heart rate shot to 195 . His ecg was fine later

Re: RV (# 2318) Expand Referenced Message

The thing is, I never was like THIS until this whole beta blocker ordeal sent me for a LOOP. Now my busy SEEMS like it’s going haywire or now I’m just hyper aware of every little feeling. Regardless it’s beyond annoying and I want to be done with it. I’ve been off of M for 8.8 months lol

How are you feeling today?

I’m about to head into the cardio office

Re: Txcandy1 (# 2319) Expand Referenced Message

Same was never like this i dont know what made me like this because no one is ready to believe that metoprolol caused this. They think its all in my head and my physical symptoms are dismissed . I have new symptom from last couple of days my left nose makes a whistling kind of noise for a couple of minutes like 2-5 and goes away it comes randomly idk what is this. Good luck to you hope you get off this mess
