Metoprolo Er Tab Suc 100mg Metoprolol Tartrate Abs

are these the same drug? I have both and want to be sure they are the same.

Metoprolol Succinate is an extended-release medication and Metoprolol Tartrate is an immediate-release medication. Because Metoprolol Tartrate is an immediate release tab, it would most likely require the patient to take additional pills throughout the day in comparison to the extended release version.

Additionally, generics may also have different levels of potency (as they are allowed to contain up to 20% more or less of the actual active ingredient). Furthermore, each tablet has its own composition of inactive ingredients (binders/fillers) that can also significantly effect the absorption rate of the drug itself, making it more or less effective overall.

The one with the ER after it is a time released formulation, but the other one doesn't have anything listed that shows it as being time released, so it seems that it's just a regular release formulation of Metoprolol.
