I experienced male left breast tenderness, soreness and the area is itchy. I have been taking digoxin, 0.125 mg, daily for six years with no significant problems until now. When I skip a day or two the problem ceases. Is this condition a side effect of digoxin or something else?

I just completed a 6 day pack yesterday. The awful red face flushing is still there, with swelling. Headaches, rash from lower back and up, and all the other things you mentioned. I'd like to know when these side effects will go away also. This morning my left eye was half closed, red and oozing. I believe it's pink eye. If your problems are still there after 2 weeks then it doesn't look good for me. Just wanted to say I understand what you are experiencing. Wish I had answers to give, but good luck!

I've been on prednisone for about 20 yrs...i was prescribed a high blood pressure med...i read up on it and learned thiswas an absolute "do not mix" with prednisone,i shared this with my prior dr who disagreed with me until she looked it up in the PDR
she was able to do research on other options and was successful in finding an alternative blood pressure medication.

Lisa, how are you feeling now. I've just finished the dose pack, and I have the same side effects as you, including heart pounding.
Are you feeling any better now? How long till your side effects went away?

Hello everyone, I took Methylprednisolone 4mg six day pack for up to the fifth day. I took this medication for allergies back on June 2, 2016, it is now November, 2016. I had a panic attack on the 3rd day and then on the 5th day I was having suicide thoughts. I researched the steroid and found the long list of everything that could go wrong I ended up getting. I had panic attacks, anxiety, weight loss because everything smelled horrible to me for almost 2.5 months, every morning I wanted to throw up due to high anxiety and I was only sleeping for 2-5 hours for the first 2.5 months as well. I bought every sleepy tea you could think of, the only one that helped was saffron tea decafe. I also had paranoid feelings to the point that I couldn't be in my home because I was afraid of it as it have me a claustrophobic feeling. I also had a change in my hearing as I was unable to listen to the radio or watch TV because the sound bothered me so badly. I had hypersensitivity going on, I felt like Spiderman. Lol I could hear everything!!! But that went away after the 3 months. Yes, going to the movies was out of the question. Also, for the first month I had to sleep in my truck. I ended up taking 2 benadryl pills to help me sleep and I fought taking them for a month because I was scared to take any pills. But the EMS hospital doctors said that it would help calm me down. I went to the EMS and they diagnosed me with steroid psychosis. I even went to my gynecologist to get my hormones checked. She said my body was is fight or flight mode and said that I'd just have to wait until it leaves my body. It was so horrible that I had to cry and pray each day and night and ask God to be with me and cleanse my body of the steroids. I still couldn't believe that I only took it for 5 days and the awful effects were off the chart. My doctor said that I had one of the worst side effects cases that he ever saw. It's now the going into the 6 month and unfortunately I still get anxious here and there. I NEVER suffered from anxiety in my life. The good thing is that it's controllable unlike the first 3 months after taking the steroids. I'm telling you it was the worst 3-4 months of my life. I am against medication well especially steroids or anything that can change your body chemistry. I'm a lot better now. I can sleep 7-8 hours a day, eat normally, and I'm no longer with paranoia, my hearing is back to normal, and my sense of smell, the only thing that I am battling is the anxiety. I pray that it will also pass in due time. I have to understand that I went through a lot and my body is a fighter. I will do some natural detoxing and hope and pray that it will leave my body for good.

Lizzy, wow! I do feel for you. I also took the MEDROL pack, and quit on the 5th day, with two pills left, after I went to the ER with a severe anxiety attack. My last pill was October 5th, and I am still struggling with heart palpitations/racing heart, lightheadedness, problems sleeping (had chronic insomnia the whole mouth of October), and occasional bouts of nausea. I can no longer take benadryl for sleep, since it now makes my heart race. I have had blood work done, thyroid levels tested, had 2 ekg's, wore a Holter, stress test and echocardiogram. I get the results of the Holter and echo on Friday, my stress test was normal. My Cardiologists cannot believe how long these side effects are lasting! Check the first thread on this page (side effects after 3 weeks) there is a sweet lady struggling with side effects as well... going on three months now, while caring for a baby.
I'm glad you are feeling better, and I hope the rest of your side effects get better soon. I am very frustrated! Physical Therapy helped with my whiplash/headaches better than these devil pills did. This has basically put my life on hold. :(

Well.... it's now been 5 weeks since my last dose of the MEDROL pack. I am still dealing with insomnia (getting 1-4 hours a night), high resting heart rate (20+ beats over normal) and racing heart rate with minimal activity. On top of that, I have now developed adult onset food allergies. This drug has ruined my life!! I am becoming more and more depressed, and I don't know what to do. I have had to put my life on hold for 5 weeks, and I don't see an end. Please, anyone, let me know what you have done to help with your side effects! I've had every heart evaluation done; all came back normal.

Re: Marsha (# 39) Expand Referenced Message

You should check with your doctor as these drugs are known to interact. Methylprednisolone may alter the effects Coumadin (Warfarin) so you would need to keep an eye out for and report specific side effects. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. [1]

Tomorrow will be my last day on the Methylprednisolone (4mg) dosage pack. But my blood pressure has been 140/90. Usually it is around 110/60. Is that normal? Also my stomach looks like I'm pregnant and I'm not! And is constipation a normal side effect? Thank you for your help. I've taken steroid packs before but never this one and never had these side effects.

Worse side effect is diabetes and inability to respond to physical stress and promotion of infection due to reduced inflammatory response. Strange you are receiving it for headache unless you have the condition called temporal arthritis which is rare.

I was prescribed the week long taper dose pack 4mg . THIS IS THE DRUG FROM HELL ! I was supposed to take 8 pills the first day. Out of caution after reading about side effects I decided to go much slower . I broke first pill into 4 pieces and took several hours apart , felt ok so next day took two half pills over 8 hours. By that evening anxiety like I have NEVER had before hit me hard , heart racing , felt like I was on speed ! Severe nausea , depression , crying .... I felt like a CRAZY person ! Broke out in an itchy rash on my feet, hands, face. I called the doctor he told me I was hypersensitive to it and to stop taking it. If I had taken the 8 pills the first day I firmly believe I would have been hospitalized over it, or dead ! 9 days after taking this HORRIBLE medication I am still feeling the effects of awful anxiety and skin rashes.
This drug should only be used as a life saving measure and LAST RESORT !!
This is a DANGEROUS medication !!!
