Methylcobalamin is just a nutritional supplement, which is a form of Vitamin B12, it is often given to people that suffer from various types of nerve pain, because a deficiency in this has been shown to contribute to and aggravate such conditions.

As a supplement, the side effect profile for it has not been studied as is done for actual drugs, but some people have reported some nausea, after taking it.

I have been diagnosed with Vitamin B12 Deficiency, :P Anemia..... I tried the injections but had so many side effects. Does anyone know if taking this B12 medication has the same effect as the injections, I am worried as I have so many problems. any advise would be appreciated.

before 7 year ago i was suffering from compain of stumuc pain and problem of loose motion 30 times in day. After 3 colonscopy doctor dignolysis me IBD or CROHNS. They advised us took mesacol 2 tab-3 times. . I stopped all medicines with in 2 month. We try to live without any mentaly stress. I have some time problem of gas,narvous pain,fever ,cough .blood report indicate high globulin,low A/G ratio vitamin D3 12.7(insufficient) CRP 13.2 high,vitamin B12 -211.what drugs now i took?

I have been diagnosed with Methycobal 500.
my history is within a year my giddiness will attack a few times. some times its will make me fainted. when i go see the doctor they given me injection, Methycobal 500 & merislon 6mg.
But when am doing the blood test for detect what sickness are attack me know? when the blood test results come everthing is in order..what should i do? and what kind of tablets should i take to prevent my giddiness to happen again?? i worry its will attack me during offshore job.

Methycobal 500mg was prescribed for my husband for his optic nerve condition. It helped him tremendously and his vision is back to normal now. The eye specialist gave him a 3 months supply of it, should he continue taking it even after that?

I had a femur bone fracture (right leg)
And now I have metal implant to support.
About a month now I am having pain on my right thigh. Continue walking is ok, but after a rest (sitting up) even a few minute will cause me severe pain on the upper thigh. What is cause? Can I take the Methylcobal?
Please advise. Thank you

Dear all,

I am not a doctor but I am better than a doctor for B12 suppliment. I have been taking Methycobal 500 - it is primerary a B12 suppliment - you need to take once a month if you are taking it as injection, or take one tablet everyday. (I take one injection every month). I have huge problem of vitamin B12)
before taking the injection, I used to fell down to ground and become unconscious for 2-3 second - also pee in the pant. It happened 4 times in one year. (last time happened before 5 years - fell while I was climbing mountain - and had huge injury - luckily i survived).
I spoke with lot of doctors about this, but no one ever even heard about such B12 deficiency.
With health I am perfectly fine, I am almost 6 feet tall, 75 Km weight, and have good physic. The only problem is - I have B 12 - that because I am a vegetarian.
But since I am taking Methycobal 500 as injection every month from last 5 years - no side effects, and I am healthy.

Since I am also a vegetarian and having Vitamin B12 deficiency and also the iron deficiency; the Doctor suggested me 2 tablets of Methycobal 500 mg per day and also suggested me to take iron tablets. I have just started taking these medicines and does not know the results as of now and might know slightly later after sometime. I feel slight pain in my legs specially in calfes and the feets. What food habbits you would recommend from your experience for a vegetarian

Thanks for your feed back, I am also 6feet height and had 75 kgs but due to b12 deficiency, my weight gone down to 65 now. No doctor could diagnose my problem, however, clinically I am very perfect no problem. But my digestion capacity has become very low because of above deficiency. Your feed back is very interesting. I want to use the methylcobal and would also like to share your experiences of other symptoms of such weaknesses you are suffering from during all these days.

Hi, I'm 45 years old, I have a lot of pain in my left leg on the sole of my foot, and I'm taking pills for pain and inflammation. Do I have to stop taking all kinds of medications in order to use methylcobalamin? I also have prediabetes. Is methylcobalamin available in intravenous form?

I have a B12 deficiency since a decade ago and last year I got Iron deficiency as well. Doctor advised me to take supplements for both deficiencies at the same time but unfortunately after I finished 3 months treatment taking both methycobal pills and iron liquid, after tested my blood. B12 was higher enough but iron decreased more than before treatment. Since then I am not taking iron supplement anymore hopefully I could increase my iron level a little bit at least the minimum of normal range after I followed a diet for 7 months taking beetroot and carrot blend every morning but don't forget to add anything with vitamin C like lemon to help iron absorption. Newly, I found one iron pill supplement showing in precaution of use that anyone suffer pernicious Anemia (B12 deficiency) cannot go on in taking such iron pills. And I think it is the case with all iron forms. I am not a vegetarian but I eat less meat but I always eat eggs. Even though cannot increase my B12 through food. But since you are a veg. I advise you better to take pills if you have no problem of absorption otherwise you opt to injection monthly. The active form and ready to be absorbed directly is methycobal 500 mg. Other forms like cyanocobalamin is inactive form and need other factors in our stomach so that can be absorbed and this latter contains some toxicity which may be harmful to some with long period treatment.

I recommend you to read the eleven posted answer. I suggest everyone having or feeling tired or weak to STOP consuming methycobal up to two days till energy in your body is quite good because many many guys are complaining from nausea after taking those tablets. So take the right tab at the right time then you're gonna be fine.

I'm a papillary carcinoma with follicular variant patient and had 2 sessions of high-dose radioactive iodine therapy. Lately, i experienced having tingling sensations and sometimes numbness in my right extremities. I told it to my Dr. and she recommended the Methycobal 500mg 3 times a day for 1 month. I am taking it for almost three weeks now and i believe the tingling and numbness had already lessen.
