How long can Methotrexate keep your liver enzymes elevated? ## My doctor monitors my liver enzymes carefully. If we see a rise, we cut back on the methotrexate. I would rather have some pain, etc. from an autoimmune disease, than have problems with my liver. Liver damage is irreversible. ## While Methotrexate has been known to cause elevated liver enzymes, it has also been known to cause permanent liver damage in some people that take it, including fatty liver, fibrosis, and cirrhosis. Ref: Methotrexate Information What has your doctor advised? How high were they? Are you on any other medications?

I have just stated using methotrexate injections for RA after using tablets which gave me mouth ulcers and nausea. Have also used Arava and other RA meds without success . I am also on occasional predisalone as I gain too much weight and am a type 1 diabetic and blood sugars go up considerably. I also take 300mg of plaquenil each day for my arthritis. I would like to know how others are coping with the methotrexate, results and side effects??? ## We are all different, so Methotrexate works great for some people, but not for all, thus, the only way to see if it will help you is by actually trying it according to your doctor's instructions. The FDA warns that it may cause side effects, such as dizziness, headache, chills/fever, hair loss, and light sensitivity. Ref: Methotrexate Infor...

When I take Methotrexate (7.5 mg.) for my RA treatment, I get these swollen areas in the tissue, on my lower leg and sometimes in my forearms that will turn bright red (like a sunburn). It really is painful and seems to feel better once it turns red. This will last up to 4 days. Anyone out there with a similar re-action? ## I know exactly what you mean! I take the medication for my lupus. My doctor prescribed over the counter hydrocortisone cream and it does wonders. Also, when it is really sore he has me take vitamin e capsules, puncture them and squirt them on the area. Believe it or not, it really does take away a lot of the pain. Hope this helps. ## my husband passed away last year.. i have recently found a prescription which was for (100 ) 2.5 methotrexate to be taken as doctors in...

I've been diagnosed with RA. Been on methotrexate about a year then started getting skin problems, always at dermatologist. Then last thing I just discovered was on my vulva area a white spot it attacks soft tissue. Came to find out its squamous cell carcinoma... surgically removed thank God. Now my rheumatologist wants me to start on methotrexate again and could happen again. Lord help, everything else has same effects if not worse. What to do? Pain comes back without it. ## Diagnosed with RA and take no meds because of their side effects. I did hear Hydroxyclorophine works the best. Methotrexate is a chemo drug. Anyway I won’t take anything so eating right to lower the inflammation causing the RA is what works for me. Best to you. ## What side effects had u had with the meth...

Can I take ardosons when I take methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine for my arthritis and sciatica nerve? ## Can I take one day ardosons and one day hydroxicloroquine ## Ardoson is listed as containing Indomethacin and Methocarbamol, the first is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, and the second is a muscle relaxant. You should not take it, unless your doctor has instructed you to do so, since it could interact with some medications, or be contraindicated with some medical conditions. Are those the only other medications that you are taking?

There is a chance that it's raised due to liver damage, but more evaluating would be required to know for sure. My daughter has lupus. How long does she need to take Methotrexate? Her hair has thinned as well. she takes it 1x a week.. ## Hello, Sherna37! How is your daughter? When it comes to a chronic condition, such as Lupus, you really have to weigh the risks to her life and health against the medication side effects. I'm female, so I'd not like my hair thinning, either, but it would be better than the complications that can arise, if her condition were left to rage out of control. That said, she should stay on it, as long as her doctors deems it appropriate and safe for her to take it. Other side effects to this medication, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include headache, dizziness and nausea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello! I hope your daughter is doing well. Hello, I take .6 ml methotrexate weekly plus plaquenil and sulfasalazine. I've been completely knocked out with a head/chest cold for the past three days. Now my fever is down; can I go back to work tomorrow or will I just did myself in deeper? Any advice would be appreciated. ## FROM PAST EXPERIENCE, IT USUALLY RECOMMENDED NOT TO RESUME NORMAL ACTIVITY UNTIL A FEVER IS GONE FOR 24 HOURS. ## @Bratbaby, I agree with the previous comment, in that you should probably wait it out until you've fully recovered from the fever and/or whatever cold symptoms you might still have. At this point your immune system has to take time to build itself back up again through getting plenty of rest, proper nutrition, and not stressing out about anything. Methotrexate on the other hand, is known for...
