Fibromyalgia - new to it and absolutely lost and feeling alone

I have just been told it's likely I have fibromyalgia ... I'm pretty terrified as in 6 months I have gone from being a fit and active woman to being in a wheelchair. I can no longer stand on my legs due to a combination of pain and exhaustion and general legs refuse to support me and I'm often puffed and my heat beats like I've done a mile run just from 5 mins exersion... my concern is going on drugs... I'm afraid that things will get worse if I start taking drugs.. I have little or no faith in the medical proffession as they keep saying oh we think it's fibromyalgia but we really arn't sure and... they are shocked at how quickly I am detoriating but offer me a reason why other than they are saying muslces detoriate from lack of use... but in a few months? ardosons, methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine

Can I take ardosons when I take methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine for my arthritis and sciatica nerve? ## Can I take one day ardosons and one day hydroxicloroquine ## Ardoson is listed as containing Indomethacin and Methocarbamol, the first is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, and the second is a muscle relaxant. You should not take it, unless your doctor has instructed you to do so, since it could interact with some medications, or be contraindicated with some medical conditions. Are those the only other medications that you are taking?

Methotrexate and lupus

My daughter has lupus. How long does she need to take Methotrexate? Her hair has thinned as well. she takes it 1x a week.. ## Hello, Sherna37! How is your daughter? When it comes to a chronic condition, such as Lupus, you really have to weigh the risks to her life and health against the medication side effects. I'm female, so I'd not like my hair thinning, either, but it would be better than the complications that can arise, if her condition were left to rage out of control. That said, she should stay on it, as long as her doctors deems it appropriate and safe for her to take it. Other side effects to this medication, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include headache, dizziness and nausea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello! I hope your daughter is doing well. Methotrexate and a chest cold

Hello, I take .6 ml methotrexate weekly plus plaquenil and sulfasalazine. I've been completely knocked out with a head/chest cold for the past three days. Now my fever is down; can I go back to work tomorrow or will I just did myself in deeper? Any advice would be appreciated. ## FROM PAST EXPERIENCE, IT USUALLY RECOMMENDED NOT TO RESUME NORMAL ACTIVITY UNTIL A FEVER IS GONE FOR 24 HOURS. ## @Bratbaby, I agree with the previous comment, in that you should probably wait it out until you've fully recovered from the fever and/or whatever cold symptoms you might still have. At this point your immune system has to take time to build itself back up again through getting plenty of rest, proper nutrition, and not stressing out about anything. Methotrexate on the other hand, is known for...

Methotrexate side effects

I have been on Methotrexate and folic acid for 3 weeks. Started with three 2.5 mg tablets of MTX for two weeks, then up to 6 tablets this week. The first week, I had terrible stomach pains, the second week I had bad fatigue. After taking my 6 pills on Friday, the side effects have been bad: nausea, no vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, back and right side pain and a rash. I finally reached the doctor on call in my practice (Memorial Day), and his comment was that it didn't look like I could take 6. My question is this, if you have switched to the injectable MTX, did you have less side effects, and at what point in your treatment did you switch? ## Hi my son started taking the injection 3 weeks ago he have had some stomach pain but no nausea. Changing methotrexate schedule

The day after I take my 6 2.5mg methotrexate tablets I always have enough stomach upset to make me spend an hour or so doing absolutely nothing but sit still. Are there any suggestions about what foods might help counteract this reaction? Are there any suggestions about changing the day (once a week) that I take my pills so that I could take them the day prior to a day with less physical activity? ## Hello, LeTigre! How are you? In many cases, crackers or bread can help reduce the nausea and stomach pain, as long as they aren't contraindicated with the given medication. Changing the day should be fine, unless your doctor has some reason for you not to do so. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including back pain, blurred vision, headache and cough.
