Methadone is the worst drug. There are alternative ways to detox from opiates. I experienced cold turkey withdrawals after being on methadone for 12 years (90 mg. daily). Living hell. Severe withdrawals lasted two weeks, but less severe withdrawals lasted two months. Further withdrawals lasted for months. I couldn't think, walk, write... I was so miserable. If you are on Vicodin, Norco, etc., don't switch to Methadone. You have no idea what you're playing with. Trust someone who's been there (clean date: 2/1/2005) ## Hello, Caowens! How are you? I'm on 75 mg methadone and I want to stop on my own because it seems my counselor wants me on forever. Can I do it myself being on an anxiety med? ## T Chang, it is very difficult 4 a lot of people 2 taper off of methadone on their own. It should b done slowly and under supervision. Methadone is the worst drug and most wicked drug in this entire world. They give it to people like me with pill problems and then you can never get off the stuff. I made the worst mistake of my life going into a Methadone program. The people at these places pretend like they are there for you but they are not. I would like to know the best over the counter med to help with my methadone withdrawals and pain. I have little money no insurance and hurt like never before. I'm determined to be 100% clean. ## I hate to tell you this but nothing will stop your withdrawls from methadone. The only thing that may help you is ibuprofen for the fevers. I went to a physicians assistant who prescribed me gabapentin (which i am alergic to)and clonidine which only lowers your blood pressure. I am on 18 days without methadone 80mgs a day or more depending on the day and the withdrawls the first week and a half are pure hell!.... i have booked a family holiday for two weeks in lanzarote and have been told today that im not allowed to take my 150mg daily does with me because the doctor thinks i should go to detox first are they allowed to do this ## Your doctor isn't obligated to treat you or provide you with any medications, whatsoever, so yes, they certainly can. I usually take methadone i get from the clinic but i wasted a bottle with dirty water out of the sink.. I was given a bottle of orange liquid from a family member who says it's methadone from hospice. Plz, does anyone know any drs that prescribe Methadone for pain in Tappahannock or Richmond Va. area? ## Had spinal stenosis surgery, triple lactomactomy and when I came out was way worse. My surgeon said to go to their pain management and get an idea of what they came up with on file for any doctor to see or said to call them and they would help come up with a plan. Hi everybody I have been an addict (opiates) for the past 13 years and it is tearing me and my family apart. I don't ever want to give up hope and say that ill be like this forever because I wont. I want to be clean so bad.. But theres just so much more to it (as a lot of you already know) but ill get on with it. I've been at a methadone clinic in the past but cannot attend it again due to going everyday and more importantly the liquid does not agree with my body very well. I took a half a gram of Heroin on Friday but don't dose regularly. I weigh 157 and am a 5'7 female. If I have a UA on Monday will it show up? ## Yes, there is a chance that it will be detected. Yesterday morning i took an 8 mg strip amd went into imediate with draws worse then ive ever experienced before should i take more suboxen. I was on 130 mgs of Methadone for about a week but on metgadone for about three months i waited about 50 hours after my last dose of methadone but obviously i didnt wait lomg enough ## You have to be in full withdrawal from all other opiates, before you can take Suboxone, without causing precipitated withdrawals. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Wanted to say I just came out of precipitated withdrawal! What holy hell! I have been on methadone for 6 years taking 115 mlg daily & got myself down to 50 mlg for 2 weeks, waited more than 72 hours, then took 2mlg suboxone. I was fine. Not better, just not worse. Following my doc's orders, I took another 2mlg 90 mins later. Ok, then took another 2mlg after 90 min and oh my god. Almost instantly threw me into precipitated withdrawal! This was to say the least horrible ×1000. Don't want this to happen again but determined to switch to subs. When can I try again without going through hell?!
