Methadone And Buspirone 10mg

My wife has panic attacks, and with some financial stress she is really having a breakdown. I've heard horror stories about benzo's and methadone so I want to hear from someone that takes them with methadone to know how safe it is. She takes 65 mil methadone daily, liquid. Anyone?

I have been on methadone for 2 yrs now and I also take a benzo to treat sever anxiety. I am also on the patient advisory board at the methadone clinic I attend and have 6 take homes, meaning I only go to the clinic once a wk and take the rest at my home due to following the rules and being clean from all drugs, unless I am prescribed. It can be safe to take methadone and a benzo, but only if the doctor prescribing the benzo knows you're on methadone. The part that needs to be watched is to make sure your wife does NOT abuse the benzo, take more then needed b/c if that happens, she can have depressed breathing and overdose due to taking both meds & having too much benzo in her system. She needs to start on a small dose of benzo, watch if carefully and if she starts to feel sleeping after a couple of wks, lower her dose of methadone. Only due this if you are sure she won't take more then is prescribed, or if you can hold them and just give her as prescribed. Good luck and please tell your wife how good she is doing getting help for her addiction! It is a very hard journey and having support from your loved ones is very important! Also, don't accuse her of wanting to take more then she should of the benzo, if your not sure just tell her you want to hold the benzo just to be on the safe side b/c you love her and can't afford to lose her.

Another relevant fact to add here is the Buspirone is not a Benzodiazepine. It is actually an Azapirone, so it is a completely different class of anti-anxiety medication.

I've been on 20-40 mg of methadone a day for the last 12 years. I also take 4 mg of ativan a day, or 4 mg of xanax, or clonipin. I've never had any problem or heard of anyone who has.

Yes.....benzos and methadone are vary dangerous Or can be .......I've been on methadone for over 9+ years ! And I've been addicted to them for two years and finally quit after ending up in a mental institution due to withdrawal of this drug .....I was on 200 mg. And at least a bar a day ha bit but sometimes when I got my prescription it would be six sometimes .....I am that I never overdose! I got kicked of for being a liability'! Due to the death toll at our clinic I'm on now ......I don't know I you know mike star from Alice in chains he came here to my clinic and got kicked off due to the new thing they call a benzo proto call .... he DIED a few months later do to these Xanax and methadone! now at the methadone Xanax @ clonopen . Benzos which if you have any benzos including doctor prescribed..they detox you until clean! 5% the first week then 5mg of methadone every 3 days!
Yes you have to make a choice between methadone o benzos ....+23 people have died from this deadly combination .....but its vary hard to quit because the people on methadone and benzos is just th same feeling as doing herion.....and trying to quit Xanax s just as bad as quiting herion but you have hallucinations and that's no joke! I am now on 95 mg of methadone now and I'm still have urges to buy Xanax or see a doctor , but then I take a look. At all of the people/zombies are at the clinic and ....I don't want to be like that!

Not all methadone clinics make you detox off benzos. Im actually a pain patient on 120 mg methadone daily. I moved and had to find a new doctor.. Until they could get me to a pain clinic they would only give me 20mg daily.. so in severe pain and withdrawal i went to the methadone clinic. They said all they needed was signed consent from my doctor saying it was okay to treat me with methadone and xanax.. i ended up not starting at the clinic..waiting for pain clinic.. but i was at a methadone clinic in San Francisco that just wouldnt give u take homes if you had benzos in your system. It can be dangerous. Many people have died that way. But I have taken 180mg methadone at once with 6mg of xanax (3 bars).. i never had a problem.. everyone is different and your tolerance to it matters.. use caution. But yeah buspar is not a benzo. My new doc. Just asked if i had tried it or vistaril, i hadnt.. but she picked the vistaril to try first. in addition to my xanax.. But i have asthma! She knows this and yet the paperwork says use extreme caution,if at all, in people with asthma.. talk about trouble breathing! So hoping buspar works since it doesnt affect asthma.....

I am concerned about my son. He is on 90mg of methadone and he now is taking a klonopin. I think they are .5. I am very worried about him taking the two together. What are the precautions? Is there any non narcotic drug that will work like the klonopin, he needs something for his anxiety and depression. He is also taking lexepro. I am very worried

I know people who take methadone and Xanax because the high is like heroine. I've never done any.wondering if buspar and methadone mixed have same effect? Do not want to start medication if it does

I take 1mg clozopam 2 at night, i am on 100mgs of done- clozopam or klonopin is better to me bc its considered a benzo and labeled a narcotic....but won't fail for anything on a drug test.. zanax and adavan, will and kinda makes one loopy rather than calmer like the klonopin, of course every person is different this is just MY experience

Hello my name is David, I've been on 180mg of methadone for five years, went to jail and kicked in side. I got out to get on suboxon but couldn't stay clean for anything. So 7 years of jails institutions and rehabs, I figured out once on methadone for years I'll never stand a chance at a happy life without it. Xanax and methadone, very dangerous and addicting, but my clinic says 4mg of contain and my dose of done can be no more than 120, I have taken hundreds of milligrams of donez and up to 10 2mg X bars and lived. And I know a lot of people that abuse the two. So besides being a zombie. It wouldn't be a drug overdose that would do her it would be a car accident or drowned in Her cereal while knowing out.

I take 90mg methadone a day with 1mg klonopin with no problems. As long as he doesn't abuse the klonopin or take any other respiratory depressants, he should be okay.

I am on 130mgs of methodone for about ten years. I have always hated benzos bc I saw how it made my mom. So stupid me decided I wanted to see "what all the hype was about" well it sucks. I guess I'm lucky I did not od but as I sit here now I withdraw from xanix from choice not to take them.It is as bad as methodone withdraw. I think it may be a lil worse BC if you just stop without tappering you can have problems from benzo withdraw. As I say that my problem remains. I will try my best to get off xanix!!

HI. JMIKE, MY NAME IS CHRIS I TO STARTED GOING TO A METHADONE CLINIC LAST FEBRUARY. IWAS ALREADY TAKING .5 MILLIGRAMS OF XANAX 3 TIMES A DAY WHEN I STARTED AT THE METHADONE CLINIC. AS THEY INCREASED MY METHADONE PAST 50 MILLIGRAMS I STARTED TO PASS OUT NOT REMEMBER WHAT ID DONE OR SAID IT WAS HORRIBLE! DONT MIX THE TWO IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.

Benzo w/d is nowhere near as bad in your body or last half as long as methadone w/d. Remember to think positively because 70% of PAWS is mental with 30% physical

Benzo w/d typically lasts a week or so. Methadone w/d lasts 21 days+ like the worst heroin withdrawal you could imagine. I'd rather withdraw from benzos and heroin at the same time than ever cold turkey methadone.

We also have a zero tolerance benzodiazepine policy at the clinic I go to here in Decatur, IL and it does not matter if the person is prescribed or not. I have mixed feelings about it but I can definitely see why they don't want people taking both as it is just asking to stop breathing. On the other hand my best friend was on the program for 3 years while being prescribed xanax and dropping clean the whole time other than his benzos. Once they began the zero tolerance policy he was given a choice to ween off the xanax or ween off of the methadone and out of fear that he would have siezures (and probably the fact that he liked the feeling he got from the xanax) he decided to ween off of the methadone. He died of a heroin overdose 3 months later. Benzos are bad in any case and if you can avoid them by using something like SSRIs or Buspar then I would totally do so. I just started taking busiprone today and take 190mg of methadone daily. I will update in a month or so on how it works out.

I used to go to a very large methadone clinic in a big city. They had a zero tolerance policy for benzos (Xanax). Folks, I can't even tell you how many people from that clinic died from taking methadone & Xanax during the 8+ years I was there. Healthy, young men. Vibrant young women. Mothers. We even had one new mother accidentally suffocate her newborn baby because she nodded off while in bed with her baby. Another young mother of twins died of an overdose from mixing the two drugs. Her toddlers were found huddled around their momma, trying to wake her up. Five people from the clinic got into a horrific car crash, two died. Driver had taken methadone and Xanax. Countless others just died in their sleep, stopped breathing and didn't wake up. COUNTLESS. It seemed like it was just one person after another. And those who didn't die were just f***ed up all the time. I had to park a block from the clinic because my car was hit on two separate occasions. The parking lot at the clinic was like watching bumper cars at the county fair. All these people were trashed, bonking around carelessly.

It was easy to see who was there to get their life back on track, vs those who were still using and still just trying to feel high. Taking Xanax or any other benzo with methadone can kill you. I do understand that not everyone abuses their medications, and that there are people who have taken the combination and have not had any problems. I just wanted to let everyone know all of the tragic accidental deaths I've seen over the years that were directly caused by taking methadone and Xanax together. It's been utterly heartbreaking, and quite honestly has scared the hell out of me. Children that my daughter played with are now without their mommas. It's not a game. It's not worth the high. Be safe, folks.

Is it safe to take 15 mg of buspar daily while on 70 mg of methadone. I want to start my psych meds back butbdo not want to endanger myself at all. What do you think?

Same thing at my clinic. About 5 or 6 people died from mixing vendors with their methadone, one of them was a very good friend of mine. Another one's husband had died like a year before her and they had two teens that were devastated about their dad dying and then their mom dies too. Those poor kids, it's just stupid to mix them and tolerance doesn't matter cuz it can still happen.

I've been having bad anxiety lately. I'm on 193mgs of methadone. Been on it for years for pain. Today my doctor prescribed me buscar for the anxiety. I'm afraid to use it till I talk to my clinic. But I've taken meds before that was ok when the clinic warned me. But this doctors assistant prescribed me something last year that thru me into what felt like big time withdrawal. So idk what to do.

1st Reply. Well 1st. get off the sick liquid 6.5methadone. If your are at a safe shelter can't complain. Try to find a pain intervention Dr. Mine is awesome. Give the buspars a try. I have been on dosage methadone 10mg 8xper day we'll over 4 years. Been on Xanax 2 mg bars 3 x per day...get atticus mfgr. Is the best. Buspars I'm at 30mg a day.

It doesn't have any high effect, I take 170 mg. of Methodone and use Buspar when I get an attack. The only thing that I was told at the Pharmacy was tht the Buspar has to build up in your system, I questioned it because my doctor prescribed my meds, "as needed". Any comments on Buspar having to build up would be appreciated.

yea , i also take 85mg of Methadone a day with 2mg of Klonazapan and I am very health very work out every day and in great shape . so yea no need to worry as long as she has a tolarance and knows what shes doing
