I was on methadone for six years, it has been 19 days sent I have stopped taking my 95 mg a day. I have never felt so sick. I can not walk without it feeling so bad. I hope to be better someday. I want to know how long.

That is a rather high dosage to stop cold turkey. Methadone is usually tapered, to try to minimize the withdrawal effects. They can be very bad, which is why many people end up on a lifetime maintenance dose and never entirely get off the drug.

Some things you may experience can include: nausea, dizziness, chills and diarrhea.

The withdrawals can usually last about a month, they should slowly improve as the drug is processed out of your system and your body gets used to not having it.

How are you doing, now?

Well...why on earth would you do such a thing? Methadone withdrawal is horrible It is 100x worse than heroin withdrawal. The best way to get off methadone is to go down very very slow. I was on only 30mg the last time and the only time that I got off without the use of other opiates. It was really hard and i felt horrible for a month and finally went back on. And that was a 5mg every 3day detox..that is too fast i have been told so I have reduced my dosage by 3 mgs a month and feel it every morning already. When you are on a low dose, reducing even a little is a marked difference in how you feel....good luck and i hope you make it. Slow is better...and you have a better chance of staying clean...

Have none of the people on your side of the world ever heard of mega dose of certain vitamin C? It does work but must be done correctly or you will think it's just a scam. There has been many studies done and have had a 90% success rate.. I have tried it but i just wanted to see if it was true as i have a legitimate pain throughout my body an need painkillers.

Honestly its insane to try to come off such a high dose! But then again i dont know your reasoning for walking off. What i suggest if your dead set on staying off methadone is either do suboxone for a fee days or weeks. And if u dont want to do that id suggest some muscle relaxer, pepto, and some xanax, and eating healthy and working out if also amazing for beating the withdrawl out. I watched my husband walk off 250mgs for 8 yrs he was on it and i was scared to death to see a human go thru that. And i recently just walked off sunday. So good luck and i wish you the best!
