MY DOCTOR IN MAINE SAYS HE CAN NO LONGER PRESCRIBE METHADONE FOR PAIN ANYMORE BY LAW BECAUSE IT CAUSE ARISMA TO YOUR HEART. (IS THIS TRUE OR NOT)

I have to admit that I can't find anything on this, but it is highly possible. For various reasons, many states on the east coast and into the mid-west have been making radical changes to their prescribing laws.

Some of them restrict what general practitioners can and cannot prescribe, as well as how long they can prescribe something, how much they can prescribe each month and etc.

Since he is a licensed medical practitioner, I have to think that your doctor would know what he's talking about.

What alternative treatments did he offer?

I called wall greens here in Oregon They said a Doctor can prescribe what ever they want, he just may be saying that so he doesn't have to write them any more but I get them still so must be different when it comes to clinics I don't get as many as I used to but I still get them,

Dear Gunney, I live in RI and the Drs down here r still prescribing it. My brother , as well as others I know get methadone 4 pain.

yes it can but, if he checks u out regular there should be no problem, he can also give you something to stop he arrhythmias, good luck I feel it is his way of just not wanting to prescribe it to u any more, so he saying things that never seemed to bother him, until the FDA and DEA got together!!!!! GOOD LUCK

I don't know why doctors suddenly stop good pain medication that is very very cheap knowing full well that the patient is going to have severe withdrawal symptoms. This can last week's if not months depending on how much you get and how long you've been taking it. Here in the UK if someone was to be stopped it would need to be a good reason and even at that it would be a very slow reduction. I hope he suggested something else for your pain as this will only make you feel worse and add more pain to your whole body. I don't understand the American doctor system but so glad we get ours free and with relatively no hassle. Good luck
