Methadone Doctor

Hi. I need to find help. I am addicted to pain pills and would really like to get off of them. I have tried methadone and it works, i just need help finding a doctor to prescribe it for me. I live in Michigan. If anyone knows could you please help me? I cant go to a clinic because i dont live near one. I live in the upper penninsula but would drive downstate to get a doctor.....

Hey NeedHelp, I use to live in MI too and I lived in Northern Michigan and had the same trouble as you. You have to to ask your self first, how bad do you want to get off the pain killers. Methadone is a great way to stop craving the other drugs you use and saves you a lot of money while keeping you off the street drugs. You are going to have to check your area in the U.P. because I dont know about that far up but it is very possible that there is a clinic. If there is not a clinic you are going to have to call and find one and then go in and sit down with the councler and explain your situatiuon and let them know how seriuos you are about doing this and they really are good with working with you. At first they will want you to come in every day for a month nut like I said , in your case they may start you at bi-weekly and just make sure to stay clean and pass your UA's. This is what worked for me, I drove from Antrim to Grand Rapids and let them know how serioous about changing my life I was and within 2 months I was on bi-weekly and it has been great. Also if you have insurance there is the option of going to the doctor and explaining that you are in a clinic and they are making you drive every day and it is too far and you might be suprised how the doc will work with you and the clinic. But first of all really check your area because their might be one somewhere by you. I need to find a doctor who can prescribe me methadone on a maintanance dosing situation. I live outside of Philadelphia. I need to continue providing for my 2 year old little girl and wife so I cant miss work, its just not an option. Im begging for this treatment. Please if there is any doctor willing to do so, it would literally be life saving.
I gratly appreciate any HELP.

Nick B. Methadone does not require in-patient treatment. Call your nearest local methadone clinic. Or, You nac try a Buprenorphine appreved MD.

There is a place I know on Greenfield Road in Oak Park. I dont know the address or what its called but if I remember correctly its in between 9 and 10 mile on Greenfield.

Methadone is one bear to get off of. I've been in a clinic for almost 4 years now at 75mg/day. I was on REALLY high dosages of oxy/day (Over 240mg/day for years). I probably blew $100,000 with trips to Mexico, local pain clinic quack (who got busted for oxy dealing LOL). It works great to stop cravings and withdrawal. BUT:
1.) You can't get private health insurance if you tell (or the insurance company finds out) them you are in a Methadone Clinic.
2.) After years, you can still have to go the clinic a few times a week.
3.) Expensive -- $91/week for a drug that's practically free.
4.) Can't get a security clearance. Not that most people worry about that.
It's a good thing, but if I had to do it all over, I'd go find another pain clinic. Back pain: Most people have something wrong on an MRI.

Rather than using Methadone, many people are having much better luck beating their addictions with Suboxone, which contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine.

Unlike Methadone, which often requires a lifetime maintenance dose, most people on Suboxone eventually end up completely drug free.

It is an opiate, so it may cause side effects such as: drowsiness, nausea, dizziness and dry mouth.

I'm currently taking 80MG Oxycotin 3-4 times a day, roxicodone 30MG about 10-15 times a day, and I'm seriously going to die soon. The reason I get all these pain medications is because I was in a horrible automobile accident, and I'm lucky to be alive, but I live everyday in a great deal of pain. I've tried Subutex, and Suboxone, both of which failed because of the celing effect they have, I needed something a lot more powerfull for pain, but I seriously can't keep taking this much Oxycotin and Norco, roxi's, ect.. I was on Methadone 10MG tabs when I lived in Long Beach, but I now live in San Diego, and all I've been able to find down here are the clinic's, would someone please, please help me if they know of a Doctor in or near San Diego, that will presribe methadone, or somewhere I can get it, you would save my life. I live in NY-Long Island and I'm in search of a doctor who will prescribe methadone for chronic back pain from herniated discs. I have tried everything with the exception of surgery, and methadone is the only thing that seems to work. I don't want to go to a clinic, just to a private doc who will prescribe it for me. If anyone knows of any docs that can help, I would greatly appreciate any information you can provide me with. Thanks for listening.

i live in utah and am on methadone maintenance for my addiction that i have now given up for methadone and the program does not want to fund me any longer they want 150 a week which i cannot afford and i need a Dr. in my area asap that perscribes methadone

Ive been on methadone for 3 years.Im beginning to think it's starting to be a $maker for somebody. The meds are cheap to manufactor. But I spent over $5500 in one year going to licensed-by-the-state clinics.
Does it really have to be this expensive? I need this medication to function and work.
I hope someone hears my plea and does something to bring the costs of the drug down to where the American worker can afford it.

I got a better idea, why don't you all GET OFF DRUGS period. You all make it seem like a poor pity party almost to the point that you are owed something. Who are you fooling? You got hooked on drugs and now you want a cheaper way to get high? Cry how Methadone is too expensive - guess what, I don't use ANY DRUGS and it is VERY CHEAP FOR ME - Free even. What an amazing concept. I feel absolutely no pity for any of you. Whether you go illegal or legal drugs, all you are is a junkie looking for your next fix. God help each of you.

Just located in Long Island, N.Y. In need of pain management doctor for methadone & OxyContin for pain relief. I DO NOT WANT SOME DRUG ADDICT METH. CLINIC!!! Does anyone have any real advice???? I've been on pain management for a decade and I'm having a lot of problems finding someone without all the stigma..... VERY FRUSTRATED!

HEY post #15.... WOW!!!! My response to that ridiculous comment or casting of the stone is...... judge not. I'd really be interested in finding anyone in this world without someone making another feel like less of a person or at fault for being in need of pain management. I guess you know the person you were so quick to judge?? I'm sure the life you're living is without reproach... rhetorical; I'm sure you think not. I have one question... where's your weakness or regret in life? Could it be overeating, working while neglecting the ones that need you, drinking and calling it social, sexual addiction.... , perhaps it's physical or verbal abuse towards others; or is it just simply making others feel bad? I live in Tennessee (knoxville) and have been in a methadone clinic for over 2 years and my clinics just ridiculous anymore. I need a Dr. not a clinic....clease help.I save chronic pain not just for addiction.

There really are not many methadone "doctors" anymore. Most of them are at approved methadone clinics now where you go in on a semi regular basis to get your meds.

Where in new York. I'm currently on 20mg but used to get 80mg then the doctor retired and his nurse practitioner doesn't want to give it to me anymore. So I'm struggling every night.

When went to oxy from methadone was taking 85mgs of methadone.....the equivalent in Oxy is 240 or 180mgs of the extended 60mgs a day
