Is this a pain medication called Roxy? My cousin took one an it made him feel funny and then went to sleep. It was supposed to be for pain for his back not sleep. Did he take something else? As of now, the closest match that comes up in the U.S. drug databases is marked "M 7113" rather than "M711" This pill is white, round with the letter "M" inside a box one one side of the pill. I have been taking Meperidine 50 mg 381-b for years. Recently my pharmist switched to Meperidine 50 mg 4171-v and I do ot think it is as effective . He says it is exactly the same. Also, lately I found one of the "old" pills (381-b) and it was far more effective then the new ones. Please tell me the difference. ## They are both generics for Demerol and listed as the same dosage, however, there can be differences in generic drugs and that may be what is causing your problem. They are allowed to differ, in the amount of the active ingredient, by as much as plus or minus 20%, from the name brand. This is considered an acceptable therapeutic window.
