Meloxicam Expiration Date Help

I have 3 bottles of Meloxicam that have never been opened. They expired in 2016 and January 2017. Are they still good?

Are they in pharmacy dispensed bottles, or the original factory sealed bottles?

When they are place in a pharmacy sealed bottle, they are usually good for one year from the date you receive them, according to FDA directions, though while recently talking to a doctor about it, she informed me that the U.S. is the only country that requires an expiration date, most of them are good for many, many years.

If they are in the original factory sealed containers, they are usually good for 4 to 5 years, under FDA law.

My meloxicam is one year old and I have a diayanos of trigger finger on left thumb. It is becoming sore and stiff again I found a bottle of 15 mg tablets yesterday! I understand it may not be as effective but can it be safe to take??

Is it still ok to take my meloxicam prescription after the "use before date" of 03/01/18, since it is just 2 months later?

Yes. I work for a family doctor. He has prescribed Mobic for my knee. We have a dozen sample packs of Mobic that expired in January and March, and I asked if I could take the packs home. He has said that they will be effective for at least six months, probably longer. And that no I won't get sick because they've expired.
