Updated

I am having a big problem with a high heart rate since the doctor put me on mega doses of vitamin D. Has anyone had this problem?

Was your rate shown to be severely low by actual blood tests?

MedlinePlus has an article about vitamin D toxicity, though it doesn't cover all the causes and symptoms.

However, it is a real problem that it becoming more and more prevalent, due to the habit many people have of thinking it is safe to take supplements in high amounts. Since it can cause high blood pressure, elevated heart rate has been known to go along with it, since your heart has to work harder.

Have you actually had your heart rate checked, or does it just feel like it is racing?

I never have low heart rate, usually too high so I have to take propranolol. I have had my thyroid removed with radio active iodine. I cannot take nsaids of any kind. I just don’t understand why it got out of hand when the doctor gave me the mega doses of vitamin D. This is the second time she has given it to me and the same thing happened the first time. I have stopped taking it and will tell her at my next appointment. I was just wondering if anyone had the same reaction.

My doctor has had me on 10,000IU of D-3 for several months. Have not noticed any change in heart rate.
Was prescribed for compression fracture in lower back, not for heart rate.

Hi, I had that, and hot flashes from hell. And bloating. It's not just a vitamin, it's a hormone. I had insomnia to. And a massive does, well, it's a life sentence. Unless like other vitamins, it stores in your body, one weekly dose, lasts three months! High doses can make your calcium level go high. Find the sun. I did. Turned it around in two weeks.

I check my heart rate usually twice a day to see if I need to take propranolol.
