Has anyone else taken MSIR for multilevel degenerative back disease? ## I was recently diagnosed with multilevel digenerative back disease. I was given msir for break thru pain and tolerated it very well. Then the Dr. changed it to avinza 30mg. I have stopped taking this because of the way it makes me fell. What is the difference between the two and why would one be tollerable and the other not? Aren't both morphine? ## I was put on msir 10mg. These are wonderful..my new doctor switched me to hydromorphone, but I hate them because of the way they make me feel. I have degenerative spine disease as well. My old doctor tried me on everything, oxys, percodans, fuerenol, t3s, you name it. The only med that worked was msir 10mg. You should try them. They work fast and you don't get si...

How is hydramorphone and/or oxy hcl ir if I've been on MSIR 30, oxy 10/325, valium 10 3x day ## Hello Billy! How are you? What are the dosages of the Hydromorphone and Oxycodone? I'm sorry, but I'm unable to give you a comparison, without these additional details. Can you please post back and clarify? The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Valium also carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. ## Hydromorphone is Dilaudid. A step up in opiods. But the oral form is not nearly what the IV form for relief. Maybe a pain pump with Dilaudid? Bu...

I was on 180mg ER morphine for 6 years & four 15mg MSIR. I weaned myself off of the 180 mg ER in May & am currently down to one 15mg MSIR every 12 hours. I'm suffering from intractable pain that has me bedridden & I've been hospitalized weekly for severe dehydration, dangerous high BP & uncontrollable blood sugars. I'm stuck on this dose, with my Dr knowing what I'm doing & don't understand why I can no longer tolerate even a small reduction. Granted I've been doing this for 3 straight months & my body is exhausted, but I can't do this anymore. I'm dependent, not addicted & have never abused. I live in Harrisburg PA & no Dr will help me despite my proving myself. What's the best way to finish this process? ## In Iowa ev...

For approx the past six months I have had even more problems than usual filling my morphine ir 30 mg. twice there have been drug shortages. I need to change to an equivilant medication like roxicodone,or something similar. What dose of oxycodone is equal to 4 X msir 30mg per day??? I take a toal of 120 a month, in additon to taking a low dose of methadone as well. I dont want to increase the methadone so need to find something to replace the msir 30mg's. ## Morphine is one a half times stronger than Oxycodone, so you'd actually need a lower dose of the Oxycodone. 20mgs of it for each 30mgs of the Morphine. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is the...

I either need to find a pharmacy to fill my prescription for #90 MSIR 30 mg or go back to #150 MSIR 15 mg ## This is an update to my original post. I went to my appointment with my PMP on Monday August 31st and told him that I couldn't find any pharmacies any where in my area that carries MSIR 30mg tabs or capsules, so he wrote my prescription for #180 MSIR 15mg tabs and told me to try the pharmacy one floor down from his office and they had them, so at least for September 2015, I have my medication. I just hope filling #180 tabs doesn't make it impossible for me to get my prescription filled in the future! ## I use Walgreens for 180 MSIR 15mg per month. They are aware that I will need them each month so they order them to make sure they have them. The same goes for my fentanyl ...

Want to get off morphine after 3 years. Concerned about abrupt stoppage. ## Stoping abruptly after being on it for several years could result in severe withdrawal effects. The FDA lists the withdrawal symptoms as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, fever, chills and rebound pain. What dose do you currently take? Generally, a slow taper is preferred to help prevent the withdrawal effects. Has your doctor provided you with any advice?

If I took MSIR can I say I that took Opana? I mistakingly took the MSIR. ## Darla, those 2 contain different active ingredients. MSIR is Morphine Sulfate whereas Opana is Oxymorphone. They are similar drugs but the Opana is stronger. Both are considered narcotic drugs. You might find a related discussion thread to be helpful: Difference in Opana and Morphine. I hope this helps!

small round purple pill one side has 30 the other side has ABG the rx bottle also says manufacture is glenmark ## I take a small, white scored tablet with "54" on one line and "262" on a second line on the opposite side of the tablet. The RX bottle says these are MSIR 30- mg tablets for breakthrough pain. I recently had a bout with stomach flu for 48 hrs that made swallowing and keeping this pill down very difficult. The othe day, I got a different brand than usual these had a large m on one side and a ms over 30 on the other. They were taller than usual and seemed to work better. Any reason why that c...
