Ms Contin Shows As Codeine
UpdatedWent to my doctor of nearly 10 years. The nurse told me "he didn't write your Rx for MS Contin". I've been on 300 mgs of the morphine sulfate for several years. Doc didn't write the Rx because a urine test two weeks ago came back as positive for codeine and methadone. I do not take either! The nurse said "I know you can't get methadone, did someone slip you something?" I said NO. This has me dumbfounded. I was getting my pain meds by the week as were all his other patients. I've read codeine turns to morphine in metabolism, so even if I HAD taken that, it would show as morphine! No idea about why methadone shows up. Was told go to the hospital for blood and urine. That hospital false tested me years ago, saying no fentanyl showed up when I was on it regularly, so I have extreme fear of true results. Doc recently had open heart surgery and people are saying he's trying to "weed out" patients, or will just retire. ANY ideas what can cause these false results? I'm terrified!
