Lyrica Without Prescription

A friend of mine has been using Lyrica in order to get a 'high'. Normally, he takes doses of 600-1000mg in one go, about once a week on weekends. He has no history of fibromyalgia or nerve damage or backpain: he is perfectly healthy. What are the dangers associated with non-prescribed consumption of Lyrica? What are the long-term side effects on health? What are the risks involved? He is a 29 yr old male.

Lyrica is not a regular pain medication, so it will not get him high, though he may experience some dizziness, drowsiness and sedation as side effects, especially at such a high dosage, which may make him think he's getting high.

Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, it is an anticonvulsant that is also proven effective at treating certain types of nerve pain.

As to long term effects, he could be causing severe damage to his liver and kidneys.

The risks could be organ failure, overdose and/or death, just like it would be for any other medication.

Lyrica for a "high?" Good Lord. I was on Gabapentin, it's predecessor for years @ 3.2mg per day which is the maximum allowable and never experienced any form of a a califacient mode. Strange indeed. And if you want to save a bundle of cash, just go with Neurontin, from which Lyrica is a cogener at a fraction of the price and does the exact same thing. Trust me...after 18 years of professional cycling and 23 surgeries I've been on countless meds, not to mention one year in med school. I know from which I speak.

And at the Stephen Colbert/Jon Stewart event in DC, I just happen to run into a researcher who developed Lyrica! Now THAT was a fascinating and illuminating chat. Save your money....Gabapentin does the exact same thing as Lyrica. Just DO not exceed the 3.2 grams per diem. Good luck
